can someone tell me if it matter what kind of dmg you deal to animals. like is blunt dmg better then piercing ?

It matters depending on what type of animal. It's explained in the knowledge tab under 'Survival' and then 'Damage types'.

The objective is to kill animals with as few hits as possible - if you have the distance, a headshot with an iron bolt from an iron crossbow is great, especially with bears, boars, wisent, moose and deer (any animal really). If they get in close, either run away or use an iron axe - this is my go to for wolves
