haha no, I'm just one person in this thread. I also think it's interesting that there's a lot of replies in here.. I did pull the trigger and buy the game, it just finished installing, so I'll come back and comment after I've heard these voices a bit, I promise!
edit: I noticed you mentioned a dev comment but didn't see it, now I see you say the moderation deleted a DEVELOPER comment? Ok that's silly... lol Steam community discussions are very weird.
What annoys me though is hearing these same voices all over my villages because in my 60th year, I have a lot of NPCs in their 50s and 60s. This isn't old, even for early Middle Ages. Granted life expectancy was much lower than today, but that's because so many died when they were young, not because people aged earlier.
But, "it is what it is." I just try and ignore it.
I do laugh when I hear someone tell me they were a vendor before I could walk. I'm like, really, you were a vendor 7 years before you were born? I've actually had one NPC voice that when my character was older than they were. That's cute.
Even the youth of the 1100's thought they knew everything.
As for age and voices, it helps to remember that there were no treatments for any respiratory ailments and without treatment they often left people with damaged lungs, vocal cords, etc., those were not the good old days. Imagine having a sinus infection for the rest of your life. You had 10 children in hopes of a couple surviving to adulthood. A hang nail was a death sentence.
Hell, my parents met in a TB sanitorium as patients. Polio was still a thing and an iron lung was about the scariest thing around, antibiotics for the masses were new. Couple generations on and no one remembers or even thinks of those problems, much anyway in third world countries... until covid and folks will forget that in a year or two.
Creeps me out in the game when someone coughs on my toon. I want to slap them. LOL
