Drawing the Shield
OK Shield is equipped. When I right click the sword blocks. How to draw the shield? Knowledge says it is in the same slot as the torch. Press F - torch appears. Shield still un-drawn. What is the hotkey to draw the shield? Thank you.

Enable the control hints in the user interface settings and it'll show you on the right side exactly what to do to swap between torch and shield.
