I would like to know why my people moods go down
I did the repair of the houses quickly, I had plenty of food in the food storage, I have firewood, (although not sure why they need a lot during the warmer times), I have been saying hello to all with the questions that are standard, I just don't get it. I even put in a suggestion as to let us know, (for those of us who do like to know, like me), why and who was complaining about what or got moody and made the rest fall into the same rut. It would be nice to know what was wrong so not to do it again.

I get confused with the planting of the fields , I for the first time changed the larger ones of the field to another type of grain, however, I have no idea which field is which except on the managers section. I know I changed it to a type I needed, but I like to help and when I go to do it, I have no idea as which is which.

Just to let you know, all of this is old news, April 2021, They have fixed that for which I was talking about and so no further complaint for this one from me.

It would be very helpful if there was maybe a mouseover in te menu to show what is leading to declines or for that matter improvements in mood. That way adjustments can be made to keep things towards a higher level. Sometimes it can something as simple as a change in job or an improvement to a house. But not knowing is not fixing in my book. There are better ways to spend my time in game than constantly trying to figure out how to fix the mood on an NPC's disgruntled wife when my own wife in game is a drunk who is never at home with her children.

As far as I know, and please let me know if this is outdated, these are the factors that currently affect the mood of workers:

quality of the house (wattle, log, stone, upgraded or not)
there should be food in the food storage or their house chest
there should be firewood or other wood in the resource storage or their house chest
mood goes up when they work in a job where they have the highest skill, when they find a partner, when they get a baby, when they get a second baby, when they live in a four bed house or a big four bed house.

All other factors like talking to them or making special food or whatever does not affect their mood at the moment in the current game. It might come later but for now, one of the factors I mentioned must be the reason for a worker's mood to drop.

So then since I have covered that you have mentioned, I would like to know why their moods are down, and why would a babies mood be so low if the mothers mood is low, I understand a little mood low but a lot? and why would it take so long for it to go back up? My wife had our son, I was of all things out next to the village cutting the trees for firewood, I didn't have a lot of villagers as yet and I was the one cutting the trees for wood, it got dark and when I came back home, she wasn't happy, her mood went down. So, I was like okay, I understand that, but it was like that bad mood stayed till he was 14 years, I'm like really? I put daub on the house, and put a nice little fence around the house and her mood went down more, I am like really? So to me a lot of this business with the moods doesn't make a lot of sense.

Daub isn't the best upgrade for a house though. Did you try replacing her house with stone and then upgrade it with limestone? You can change the walls one by one by destroying just one wall, then chose the stone wall option in the build menu (you need to press E to edit a wall before building it to get to that option). Same for the roof, you can replace it with planks. Stone houses with plank roof also have the advantage of requiring less wood to heat them (It's a huge wood saving option).

Has anyone encountered their staff not working at all? I just want to fire them, all of them...I can't keep up with the demand for all the things they want or have a need for if I can't leave the area to make any money to improve the welfare of the community. I should just beat them and kick them all out! They can't work if their lives depended on it. I have to leave the game for days and come back finding them with moods down in the 50's cause they can't fend off the cold or find food around the area. I can't do it all.

Have you given them jobs and then told them what to do in the building panel? Have you given them tools?

Moods in the 50s is fine. Absolutely nothing to worry about, but your villagers ought to be doing virtually everything for you, depending on what stage of the game you are at.

I don't have the technology points as yet for making any other house but the original one and just up grade it. I think she didn't want me to up grade ours and leave the others alone, I did up grade theirs the same except no fence, I don't plan on leaving everyone's house where they are right now, I just put them in a neat roll till I was able to make it a lot nicer. I plan on putting the houses in a better way.

Are you aware that you can build stone houses from the very beginning by selecting a wall with your hammer and then pressing E?
Cassie Apr 17, 2021 @ 12:15pm
I looked into that and it doesn't show the stone type buildings option. I might be wrong will have to check again.
And no, I wasn't really aware of it, till I read it some where.
karrane1 Apr 17, 2021 @ 1:37pm
I think you might need to add the correct skill points to be able to upgrade the houses now. I made mine before that was added so I am not exactly sure how hard it is to reach that option.
Lailantie Apr 17, 2021 @ 2:30pm
There is a difference between upgrading and building a house from scratch in wattle or with logs or stones.

Building from scratch means you place the foundation, hold the hammer in your hand with build mode so that the walls are highlighted and then press E. You actually see that option, it is written there. And then you can choose between sticks, logs or stones. Same with roofs, three options.

Upgrading is what you need a skill point for. You can upgrade stick and log houses with daub and stone houses with limestone. For upgrading, you choose the option to upgrade in the hammer menu.

Jobs, houses, tools and more were given to the staff...and they are worthless....I'll figure it out, but thanks for your insight and understanding that was all that I needed. In a day or so I'll go back. Just needed to get away.

Elymetal - I will heed thy call to instruct for development. It is a good guide, except I got very dizzy when I got to the taxes. All those numbers and math really did me in for work. That is usually done by my accountant. Can we get one for the game??? No. Hmmm... I will try my best thank you for your time and patience.
