Can you spear fish with wooden spear?
Like the first wooden spear you can craft? It's not seeming to work?

I tried the fish-spear and bow+arrow also works. The wooden spear I never tested but I cant mind why it shouldnt work.

Just tested it and it works - but you have to aim a bit higher then usual:

Hm I can't seem to get it to work, it just goes through the small fish.

It's much easier with the fishing spear, the hitbox is larger. I also found it easier with the bow than with the wooden spear, but it definitely works.
