How to get Food Storage?

I know it is farming to get it what I want to know is can you Level up farming without doing a farm plot? seems there is more than one way to level the other stuff so I wonder if your can levl farming another way.

Putting down a field or orchard and grubbing it yourself, is the only way at the start to level up farming. Maybe if you play on the Valley map, some of the seasonal quests can give you some xp in farming technology as well.

But once you have a shed or a barn (i forgot which is first on the farming technology unlock) you can have your workers employed there so they'll also level up the farming technology. I find once I have animal buildings and workers there, it starts going pretty fast. Especially with pigs.

how do you do an orchard? I have not seen any tutorials on this, I think an orchard would be better than a farm, step by step please, what do I need and do? thanks

Same way you build a crop field in "Q" menu - Buildings - Farming - . Orchard needs grubbing, but no fertilizer before planting.

Place it like a building 4x8 is enough to unlock the Food storage, and need only one Wood hoe
The 2 or 3 next to the water need not even to chop a tree

took your advice, setup 6 by 8 hoed 4 squares and it gave me the food storage didnt even have to plant anything to get it. might do it anyway I want the orchard now lol
