How to fast max out hunting skill
Hey Guys, as last thread was closed because of talks about cheating, here a new one. Please avoid any advice on editing savegames.

So I am lvl 5 in hunting and it's pain in the ass to improve it further. I walk around the map, kill and skining dozens of animals, in real life there would be no animal in the valley left at all. Still no lvl up.

So am I doing something wrong? Is hunting down all animals and skinning them the right way or is there something I can do for a improved XP/minutes ratio?

From what I understood, more difficult animals (like bears) give more XP.

I play with my xp gain on 50%, and had no trouble getting to level 10, and that was without hunting the more difficult animals (still hunting with a wooden spear, so I mostly killed deer, moose, rabbits and birds). Yes, it was slower than some of the other skills, but not impossible.

I do use a lot of traps though. And I check them at least twice a day. That also give you quite some XP, though I'm not sure how much it gives compared to hunting and killing an animal.

Well i prefer to hunt bears and bisons. And i cant complain about the levelspeed (relative to the xp gain slider)
Important for the following number i played without carryweight and made around 1200-2000 Meat in a Morning to midnight Huntung tour on the Oxbow map. Since XP are often bound to the value a bear is probably worth 40 Bunnys

I highly suggest to check the potions and Buff food (specially this camoflage potion)

if you have points in extra exp, and points in traps, you don't have to hunt so much, traps give excellent hunting exp. you can deploy them several times a day, just reset skills afterwards.

You can actually see the xp gain. Go into your level, check it, kill an animal and check again. I can't remember but as noted above, bigger the better. Anyway, moral of the story is that you can easily see the gain should you choose then do the math. Maybe change slider then check again. Xp gain can be changed at any time so you could ramp it up kill stuff then reset.
I do agree that on my several saves that is the slowest to level but I am more a farmer than a killer and once you stop making killing a major part of your play then you just don't level. On one save I decided I needed to work on it so I just killed all the big spawns every season. Boring af but got the job done, eventually.

Specially as farmer its important, since rotten meat becomes fertilizer i say with every kill "Dich schmier ich mir auf feld" "I will grease you on my field"

Nah, cabbages are better fertilizer. I don't even bother with piggies any more. Cabbages for the win. Place is a bit smelly though. Thank god we don't grow beans, the musical fruit. The more they eat, the more they toot. Just saying...
