Twin Taverns
A question that perhaps that may have been asked before so I apologize in advance. I have been playing in the Valley Map and completed the main story but now focusing on my village. I have built on both sides of the river a bridge connects both sides of village. Having more fun and not viewing the game as a race. However I have unlocked the Tavern and wondered if there is any value in putting a Tavern on either side of the river?. I only have 25 Villagers so far but would like to know if 1 Tavern is enough for the Village as it becomes more populated.

The only function of the tavern is to produce juices, beer and wine, which is only needed if you want to produce them. Whether you need two taverns for that, really depends on how much ingredients you have and how much you want to produce. Normally one would suffice I think.

The tavern also gives your people a place to hang out before and after work. And you'll also have a chance for the king's herald to show up at your tavern (it's random, he can also show up at the existing taverns of the npc's villages) or a chance for the three bards to show up and perform.
But all that is only for athmosphere and RP and does not give an ingame benefit. So you don't need two taverns for that either.

I usually have 2 taverns. One to produce beer products and one to create wine. I have also built a village on opposite banks of a stream or the river. On one side I have farming and markets on the other the production. I also have 2 kitchens. One at the farm to create bread etc and the other to produce other 'meals'.

I think also that if some people live too far away from the first tavern, across the river maybe or past 50 units then they wont go there so a second one for them might be useful. That has been my take, that folks wont aggro to one too far away. Right Morri? Someone?
Besides, the sign of a real town is 2 bars...

I think it might be 75m, either way, you are correct that if the tavern is too far away, they will not go there for their break animation. In lieu of the second tavern (and workers and housing for said workers), you can always put a community meeting place - benches around a campfire, tables and chairs next to a kitchen, things like that which simulate the community gathering spot that the tavern provides. Just some options instead of, or in addition to, a second tavern.

it would be nice if the tavern worked like the market place, what is the purpose of a bartender if they dont sell things?

I thought the Tavern generated income for the village. If it does not sell stuff them I am very confused.

It does not. The market stalls do that; you can sell all kinds of different products in them, including the stuff you brew in the tavern.

Look at it this way: you don't pay your villagers for the work they do, so they wouldn't have any coin to spend in your tavern anyway. Instead they work for free and get food and lodging in return. That includes free drinks in the tavern :-) If you want to make money, you sell the stuff in the tavern to outsiders, through the market stalls. No filthy outsiders allowed in your tavern, no sir!!! (except the king's herald, who probably drinks for free as well due to his status :-))

Hey Morri :

My outsiders are not filthy :-)

Am I suppose to give free drinks to the King herald?... Wot a cheek... Tax, extra stuff for free, and now FREE drinks as well. And what about those singer fools... Free drinks for them as well? ..... and that guy I allow to sell special gifts... WOT!!!! he wants free drinks as well That guy has tuns of coins....

I didn't send out invitations to them to come and party on free drinks :)

It's not so much free drinks for them, that's how they get paid.

just discovered that items in the tavern don't sell. why bother? would be great to have a waitress etc. seems like a terrible mistake.
