Upgrade vs Adding Insulation
I originally built all the most simple houses I could. Now my town is big with lots of people, I was thinking of improving all my houses. I know I can add the insulation and make them better, or I can remove the walls and roofs and do the full upgrades. As soon as I remove a wall the game kicks everyone out of the house, is there a batter way to do this? I would prefer to upgrade rather than add insulation. This seems like a big hassle, and I'm not sure if it is worth it all?, but I do have a question about, is the upgrade that much better than just adding insulation? AND does that improve moral much more? or is just that the repair frequencies go down more? or possibly both?
Thanks

Upgrading materials and insulating increases moral and reduces firewood consumption, as well as adding longevity to the structure (read reducing the need to repair). If you're having difficulty with displacement, I'd suggest building a new house (upgraded) and then moving the family into that new house before upgrading the recently vacated house.

Personally, I always try to have a couple of empty houses on hand to allow for spontaneous recruiting and reassigning while upgrading.

Edit: A fully upgraded, insulated (limestone) and decorated stone/wood-tile-roof house will give a villager a base 60% moral (plus whatever they get from relationships and work moral). With two kids and a work skill of 10, they can hit 100%.

Not a bad idea there Legadian, I may give that a try.
Thank you

I build 2 stone houses with tiled rooves from the beginning, then I'm not having to upgrade them later on. I then build a wood shed and excavation hut, so that I can hire villages to collect logs, planks and stones asap
