Armor temperature rating makes it of little use
The metallic armors provide very little protection from heat and cold so you can only wear them for a very short time before getting over heated or chilled.

The padded armor is better, Thin is good for Hot seasons, Thick and Excellent for cold seasons.

I don't like it, but it makes it more realistic. That's how it would've been for real IRL back then, so I don't mind it from the RP perspective.

(There's a lot of "gaming" I've had to suspend for this game. As soon as I think too deep, I get frustrated by the gameplay; I have to just relax and go with the flow.)

There is a skill to make you more resistant to the heat and cold. There are also potions for temperature as well.

i haven't gotten to armor yet(i have a house and a well so far) but the thing that bugs me is how i can only carry 50kg(110lbs) before i can't move.

Nobody wore metallic armor over their naked body, there were multiple layers.

Turn off weight limit in settings if it bothers you.

its more then the temp that makes armor (apart from a new and shiny sell thingy) useless

first the good thing out of the way : it looks really nice

now the bad parts:

temp:
(you coverd temp so no need for me to ramble about that)

weight:
in comparison to clothing items : 2kg per item or wear a thing that 0.15 - maybe 1kg, and if your playing with weightlimit every kg counts

and Need:
we have no actual need for it : hunting you do with range and unless your a total newbie wild animals dont just appear suprisingly out of nowhere

bandit fighting : you can either a) kill every bandit with your range weapon, with zero risk for yourself or you can go in CQB with a melee weapon (of which i must say its not the most refined melee combat we know and love in gaming) in CQB you will be 1vs5 so best case you take dmg : your gear takes dmg, worst case you die

all 3 combined result in very little use for armor outside of having a new ways to decrease our ever growing stockpile of ironingots so we can mix and match what our vendors get to sell

The whole post nailed that wearing armour full time is pretty useless, but I would also like to argue that it's hardly even worth keeping a set for 'special occasions'. In this game combat is pretty rare, and when it does happen it's far more likely sprung on you than you going out of your way to engage. Realistically, how often are there situations where you know you're going in hard and it's time to gear up?

The only possible solution I would see is more combat. More ambushes, and raids on your settlements and whatnot. But I reckon most people would agree that would ruin the special vibe this game has going for it.

Since the game dev crew never started with armor concept but have been edged that way from folks who feel every game has to be a flippin shooter, they have made what to them seems reasonable. Like in real life putting on armor is a rare and complex operation saved only for those times you have to fend off the worst of the baddies. It should be worn rarely and only under the most favorable of circumstances if you are doing the assaulting. You don't wear it all the time and this game is about town building, or used to be before it went down this path.

I like that it's not a free ride because now, after they spent a really long time redoing a lot of the game most of us see as extraneous, the same small vocal group is going to continue whinging because everything isn't just dead easy for them. Haha, get cold. You should if you are covered in metal. Get too hot too. That's how it works. The devs should get back to making more maps, adding to real village life. this detour hopefully has ended. ymmv
