Villagers not using Bridge
Oxbow map. Built a bridge to an island on the oxbow map. Put a small field on the island. The villagers would walk a mile away to existing bridge instead of using the bridge I built that's only 50 feet away. Is there something I am not doing right to make them use the bridge? (PS5 version) Or is it coded that way?

I also have built in a location where i need a bridge. Maybe we picked the same island, lol.

But yeah, I was also wondering... maybe the villagers do not have the bridge as a waypoint. Aka, they cant "see" the bridge. So the only thing they "see" is the road leading to the next bridge that is pre-made on the map.

Would make some sense why they are evading it, if they cannot see it due to missing waypoint pathing over the bridge.

Aka. The bridge is only for the player and for AI its just visual? I need to experiment more with this. But i think even when blocking off the old bridge, they would prefer the water over the new bridge.

It is coded that way. Hopefully, the Dev can improve it in the future.

That's what i figured also. I built the bridge exactly the same as the bridge they do use, but they still avoid it.

The area way up north. There a mine where i built my village and a huge island just across the water. Great starting area

I built my own bridge because I got tired of everyone being in the way. haha I am by the large waterfall Southeast. I think they are avoiding mine because it ends up in just a little bit of water. However, the further inland I go, it says there's obstacles. Might be something that needs to be fixed by devs. Hopefully soon.

This can usually be solved by building the bridge a little higher. Find this and other tips in my guide xD

And basically they can use the bridges, I think you have the best chance if they wade through the water at one point. That's where the bridge should go. It works quite well for me - but they still often make unnecessary detours.

Imo, a Pathing-ability for the Hammer would be a 2-in-1 solution for roads and bridges.

There already has to be some kind of Waypoint-/ Line-of-Movement / Whatever-system
for pre-existing roads.
Simply give us access, so we can "build" our own invisible NPC-Path.

You can "force" them by fencing off access to the detour they would otherwise take and leave only the bridge open to use.

It's the same way for roads, where villagers don't recognize the player-built ones. Pathing AI could use some improvement.

Yes, same problem. My village is right next to Piastova and I built a road straight from the workers' houses to the mine. nooo... It was not good for them, they took the village road next to Piastova.
