But yeah, I was also wondering... maybe the villagers do not have the bridge as a waypoint. Aka, they cant "see" the bridge. So the only thing they "see" is the road leading to the next bridge that is pre-made on the map.
Would make some sense why they are evading it, if they cannot see it due to missing waypoint pathing over the bridge.
Aka. The bridge is only for the player and for AI its just visual? I need to experiment more with this. But i think even when blocking off the old bridge, they would prefer the water over the new bridge.
The area way up north. There a mine where i built my village and a huge island just across the water. Great starting area
And basically they can use the bridges, I think you have the best chance if they wade through the water at one point. That's where the bridge should go. It works quite well for me - but they still often make unnecessary detours.
There already has to be some kind of Waypoint-/ Line-of-Movement / Whatever-system
for pre-existing roads.
Simply give us access, so we can "build" our own invisible NPC-Path.
It's the same way for roads, where villagers don't recognize the player-built ones. Pathing AI could use some improvement.
+1 This works for me too
