They really should allow mods for this game. There not really much to it, when come to house and decorations....

There is a reason, and that is AI pathing as far as decorations go.

Devs said they'll consider updating the game to allow mod support when they themselves are done with active development. Not before.

that's not how it works and they definitely don't have to wait to be finished either.

I would expect some code change to allow the game to read external data (not packed in exe or data file), may be some customizable setting/variable to allow new item/building, ...

It should, because some major code could be changed. If that is the case, mods would stop working, saves are ruins.

that's why mods are never supported and that happens all the time. doesn't affect the vanilla game so mods need to be updated accordingly.
