Is there a best or recommended age to have your first heir?

My Racimir has already his wife, is in his middle 20s and I am the quest/mission to “have a heir”

Is there a recommended age for Racimir to have his heir?

Certainly before you are 35 ... You can die from 60 onwards and need an heir of 18 before that.

If you play on The Valley you can 'pass on' your power to your heir at 18 . If you do that, you play as your heir and Racimir (your current play char) will turn into an NPC. You can't do that on The Oxbow.

I usually get a woman organised by about 25, when my son is 18-21 I pass on control to them and retire my old play char usually to a tavern

to play as your heir he needs to reach his 18th birthday.
when you tell your wife.. lets have a child.. basicly 100% chance at pregnancy.. but she still has to carry the child

**3d season of labour
**birth

so you need 18 years + 3 seasons to have an heir that can take over from you

there is a random chance at the end of each season you die once you turn 60
(and that includes your 60th birthday)
*so you want the heir to mature at least 1 season before this.. (not sure what happens if your heir matures in the same season as you die.. but lets not risk it)

as racimir starts at 18yo and 0 seasons old.. (his birthday is in spring)

so the season you turn 41 (in spring) is the latest moment you should get your heir.
if you play it safe and not want to savegameskumming..

sure death at 60 is a CHANCE not a guarantee and you could just make a lot of savegames to keep racimir alive beyond 60.. (savegamescumming) the chance is calculated at seasons end... so by saving every time before going to bed at the last day of a season.. you can reroll as often as needed to keep racimir alive one more season.

but at 50.. characters refuse to become pregnant and woman that are 10 years younger or older will refuse to marry you.
so if you delay marriage until racimir is at least 27 and 3 seasons old (and it is winter)
and marry an 18yo girl fresh invited from one of the villages.
(again you can savegameskum to make sure one DOES apear to invite that winter)

so when your 59 and 2 seasons old (autumn) you could have a wife that is 49 and 3 seasons old...
-> thats the absolute upper limit of what would be possible to have as agegap and still have her wanting to have a child....

it be quite risky to pull of and would need a lot of savegameskumming.. as you would need to keep racimir alive until 78years and 2 seasons old before having the option to continue as your heir.

could be an actual fun achievement for those into that kind of things:)

When you are ready to look after your wife and child. Then there are more family quests, I found it quite nice to have them in the middle game.
