Mines and homes
So I've finally been able to build a mine. I checked some vids and such on it and they all seem to suggest putting some homes and a resource storage near the mine for the miners to use. I haven't done that yet, and my mine is very far from my village, yet it seems the mine is producing as Iron and Tin ore is being added to my storage. Is there a point or need to have homes for the miners near the mine?

Thanks.

There is no point, other than for maybe roleplaying/immersion; they will produce the same amount whether they are physically in the mine, or walking to the mine.
As Morri says it's not necessary to gameplay but from an immersion point of view it really works. This is my mining "hamlet"

I do like the idea of doing it for immersions sake (thanks for the link btw). I may consider putting up some houses and such there. Thanks.

First: Immersion
Second: A resource storage is sensible, when you are working without unlimited weight in the mine to transfer the goods. If the way to the storage in your town is too long.

Still, it's more 'practical' to have your house and storage close to the mine. Especially at the start of the game. To unlock the level 2 forge, you need to produce. So, at the start of the season, you get up, grab your pickaxe and go empty the mine of copper. You make tools (copper knives) and sell them. At the start of the game, you don't necessarily know how to carry much with you. So, if your mine is far from your storage area (and your forge), you'll spend a lot of time walking. But if you like it, you can. So it's not mandatory, just much more practical.
