Heat problem
When I made a campfire and slept it said 'Next Season' and transported me to a village. Now it's summer! I only wanted to sleep till morning.

Anyway, my character is continually complaining about the heat, even dying from it. I am thinly clothed in the shirt and trousers I started the game with. Some characters nearby commented I was wearing too much. So I stripped off - even though everyone near me is fully clothed!

I walked to the nearest water and drank but still my character is endlessly complaining about the heat and I see a new circular hud element showing red which I guess represents overheating? What do I do, stand in a shadow until the sun goes down? Why does the heat not affect everyone else? I feel like a prat walking around the village in only shorts while complaining the heat is unbearable. (At least he doesn't say I'm dying of the heat.)

I can see nothing in the 'knowledge' part of the control menu.

OK, thqnks. Hope I don't die of heat stroke before I find them. And I don't think I have any perk points yet.

By default, the seasons are only 3 days long. So if you go to sleep at the end of the 3rd day, you'll only see the "sleep til next season" option.
You can change the length of seasons in your cusomisation settings, also in an ongoing save.

You won't take damage from too much heat. It only depletes your water meter faster. (And you will take damage when your water meter drops to 0.)

Clothes offer a protection from cold but also from heat; so in your case you need clothes with heat protection instead of just stripping naked.
And like irl, if it's really really hot outside, even with the best heat protection, you'll still suffer from being too warm. Nothing you can do about it other than making sure you bring enough water with you. Luckily you won't die from it.

Right thanks. I suspect I need four sets of clothing, one for each season. Or at least three, one for heat, one for cold, and one for moderate weather.

Just two seasons - winter and summer. For spring and fall, use your winter clothing, but less of it.

Don't forget your birthday suit option pal, strip down to your undies when it's too hot :steamhappy: the ladies love it :steammocking:

You could also turn off susceptibility to heat/cold in the custom settings until you get it sorted out , or turn down the sound so that you don't have to listen to his whining :)
After Autumn Update: My character has never overheated. I just spent an entire day inside my house staring at the wall. I have on the straw hat, thin shirt and trousers and the thin boots. This is the 2nd day of summer.

Wait just a blasted minute… the thin boots, which replaced the light boots, now give an armor rating an no protection from the heat?? Rendercube…. What the blazes???

Ok… so we go through the clothing and find a pair of shoes (slipper kind) that has a +3-heat protection. What happened to the Light Boots with +5 heat protection?? Changed from the light boots to the shoes.

Ok so let’s see what we can find… Simple shoes (slippers) +14 COLD PROTECTION!!!
Sewing level II: Light Shoes (slippers) +3-heat, +14 COLD PROTECTION!!
Really??? Slippers with a +14 cold protection?

Rendercube… What the blue blazes have you done?? You wanted some realism for MD but this is stupidly ridiculous.

Whoa… wait just a minute… it is now 17:15 (5:15 PM) standing inside all day and suddenly I am overheating? Oh, this is just wrong.
Water level – full, food level – full. Not changed clothing, not moved.
Ok… lets see how long this goes on.
18:00 (6:00 PM) ok… villagers have quit work. Still overheating, sun gone down. Let’s go outside and cool off. Heat indicator goes up a little bit. This a joke? Standing outside, sun going down and I am getting hotter???
19:42 (7:42 PM) – heat indicator finally starting to go down. This is nuts. Sun has gone down and still my character is too hot? Just how long will this last?
22:04 (10:04 PM) Dark out, wife just went inside the house and the heat indicator finally shut off.

Rendercube – The Autumn Update messed badly with the maps due to the bandit camp having a larger footprint. Now over heating… the clothing we used to have are all gone!! Slippers with a +14 cold protection?

At least make the slippers with +3-heat and +14 cold protection into a pair of boots…. And raise the +3 to a +5

Yeah, the temperatures are more extreme now. Sometimes you get below 0°C (so below freezing) in autumn already.

Thing is, you can mostly ignore overheating/cold if it's only temporary. The consequences are not so dire.
