It depends how old is your kid.
Indeed you have to kill animals and cut them up. And sometimes you will have to kill bandits.
I think the game is appropriate for à 12yo kid.
Their is no excessive blood or gore actions.
As for bandits you can turn them off if you play "The Valley" map but not in Oxbow - but running away rather than killing them is an option except for one quest which requires that they be killed.
My generation of children (I'm 69) would never have been allowed near the game but today's kids, well, it's a different world now.
I concur.
A younger or more sensitive viewer may cringe at some of the animal noises - rabbits and wolves both make rather disturbing squelches as they are killed.
My good friend's wife who plays on our 4 team co-op world doesn't like killing rabbits because it bugs her.
Deer run around after you shoot them - making occasional blood drop animations every few seconds as they bleed out and die.
None of these are required if player/parent chooses not to hunt and only building the camp where they are. Nothing is overly gory and should be okay for 12 y.o. The only other consideration is possibly scary for younger persons to be attacked by wolves or boars. And night is particularly dark and oppressive. I can see how these could be rather viscerally frightening to a "kid" especially younger than 12.
But it's not gory overall, and no foul language (one NPC line includes the word "damn". (dam). The only nudity is the player characters can strip to barechest (male), bra-top (women), bare legs - all to help stay cool in the summer.
Wow - hmm, haven't had that experience. Never played as a female protaganist though so would have not seen this at all.
Still I wouldn't say 40+., maybe 14+.
Yeah, forgot that - there is a little language that some parents may consider inappropriate - depends on what you let your children watch on TV I guess. No serious swearwords though,
Violent aspects: Hunting animals. When you use a knife to gather the meat and fur, it is not bloody, just an animation and sound.
Bandits: if you fight bandits it is still pretty mild. sure they die and fall down, but its not as violent as many games. You can also TURN OFF BANDITS in options where you modify game aspects such as exp gain, thirst, hunger, cold, etc on or off. If villagers need food
You try and have an heir, no sex involved, just a cut out then wife will be pregnant.
It's good for kids to start with, set it easier with custom settings, then adjust later to make a bit more challenging.
They can learn building, management of people, trade and more.
This story is not mandatory and can be ignored.
I would say, while it is a more peacful game in general, it is not a children's game. Harvest Days would be closer to that, but it has a completely different art style, far less realistic.
Not my normal life, last time I took a bow and arrows to the supermarket I got some very funny looks.
Oh, that was you? I knew something seemed familiar!
wait until you run with an orcish warband trough the woods and scare hikers...
I thought I recognised you! You were the Customer Service Representative listening to complaints about the speed of the checkouts
