hahaha, but I agree. Those furballs are relentless! And fast!

I have now seen multiple posts about the foxes. I have hunted them a few times with no attacks. I have also defeated a fair number of bandits, and again no foxes.

They flee when they take too much damage but will often fight back before they are at that point, and since I hunt atm with wooden spears and with animal HP on 400%, that's often for me. And they are little terrors! :-)

Ah, so it may be my animal HP setting preventing this. I usually leave most of the settings at default. Since I get annoyed/destroyed by the wolves, not sure I want to increase that setting at this moment.

Switch to a stone axe or a knife, then chase their tail. That works wonderfully against every animal that wants to bite or gore you. Biped can always turn more tightly than quadriped. Actually, when carrying an axe in hand foxes never attacked me -- they have always avoided contact. Axe is a lifesaver against the wolves though, for sure!

Forget about spears except as a short range attack. Throw one if you have a chance, but rely on an axe for close-in work. If throwing a spear is going to leave you unprepared to be ready with your axe, just forget the spear altogether. In my first Spring season I could kill everything (even in packs, strategically) with a stone axe, without potions on default game settings. I did hoard and use whatever apples I found for regeneration, though.

Lastly, though I am dismissive of spears in this post, I later came to appreciate them when the situation is right. But for close up, in-your-face combat, a spear is not a good weapon, and the axe is.
