I don't understand fishing.
My only worker and wife can't do anything at the moment in terms of farming, so I put her fishing in a place where there are bass. It is also neatly caught. But when I ask for the fish to be dried, the no resources sign appears and the whole fish is in the general food supply and I have to manually take the fish out of there and put it in the fish supply to make the sign disappear. That can't be the intention, can it? Am I doing something wrong?
What is the right setting in terms of percentage?
Thank you in advance for the solution that I will undoubtedly receive from you. ;-)

So if you set both catching whole fish, AND also fileting the fish, AND also drying the fish filet, they'll try to do it all at once. So for a while they'll complain about not having the whole fish (yet) so they can't filet it. Or they'll complain about not having any fish meat (yet) to dry.
Only way not to get that is to make sure you have enough starting supply so your fisherman has enough to start with.
So put a few whole fishes in the food storage and a few fish filets.

Your fishing hut doesn't even need to be near actual fish. As long as it's on water, you'll get fish from there.

Your fisherman will get you the whole fish: roach, perch or pike. But for drying fish, you need the fish meat, not the whole fish.
Just look at the bottom of the task you select: https://imgur.com/a/SnuHFEP
It'll tell you very clearly what is needed and what it'll produce.

I understand that, but why doesn't the fisherman fillet the fish into fish meat and then dry it?
Now I have to take the fish she caught from the general depot to the fishing hut before she turns it into dried fish meat.
This is beyond my understanding and logic.

It shouldn't matter where the whole fish is; whether it is in the food storage or the fishing hut, it cannot be turned into dried fish meat.
If you want dried fish, you need fish meat first. And if you need fish meat, you either filet the whole fish yourself, or you set the task in the fisherman's hut to filet the fish. Did you set the task for the fisherman to filet the fish?

Yes, I did.
So if I understand it right, she brings the whole fish to the general food storage first, takes it out there to bring it to the fishing yetty again to fillet it, and than she can dry it?

No. Your villagers don't actually physically move items. They can all access the chest of the building they work at and they can all access the food and resource storage.
Your villager will automatically use the whole fish straight from the food storage and filet it, the fish meat goes back in the food storage, and when she starts drying it, she'll also take the fish meat directly out of the food storage.
There's no need to put anything in the chest of the fisher's hut.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I did that and the no resources sign disappeared. Than I saw the whole fish at the main food storage, so I got a bit confused. I was about to give up on fishing...
Thanks a lot for your patience and the given solution, :steamhappy:
