Can't shear sheep
I have shears in hand looking at sheep full of wool, yet there is no option to shear the sheep.

Are they still lying in the fold? They need to be outside running around.

Click on the right side, Manage my screenshot from M.D. Then upload to public. If you already post it, it is not posted until you upload to public, not private or friends only. Only public.

Have you sheared the sheep before? After shearing, the fur grows back but you still have to wait some time before you can harvest the wool again.

It's also possible that you can only shear sheep in certain seasons. That is not well documented.

I can only sheer sheep once a season. They grow their hair back and look full but I cannot sheer them more than one time each season

Yes, maybe this is what you are experiencing. Just wait until their wool grows back. That's why I've ask to show us the screenshot.

Cheers for responses. I think I may have already sheared the sheep that season. Wool looked like it grew back but didn't.

so you can sheer the sheep good to know figured it would be like the egg thing where you actually can't collect them yourself or at least for some reason My playthroughs won't let me but your workers do automatically figured sheep shearing would be the same thing

Only time I have issues sheering my sheep is in late Summer. Then the option just doesn't show up again. I also discovered that the game moves your character as well as the sheep during the sheering process. So if you aren't careful you will get stuck between a pair of sheep during the process and you will need to use the unstuck process to break free again. I ended up stuck 4 times doing the sheering as a time killer. Now I just avoid the whole thing as its a headache to avoid all the issues with it. I still get my wool one way or the other so why fight a losing battle. I can just spend a season chopping down trees and converting into firewood to add to my growing firewood pile outside my storage. Current supply is over 10000 firewood at current. Seconded by my fertilizer mound of 8500. Those two keep me busy most seasons.

I am trying to understand seasonal mechanics - I went bear hunting in winter not a sausage; same places in spring found 4 bears. Light bulb moment...guess they hibernate?!?!

I find crouching usually works when i get stuck.

I know this is an older thread and there was an update, but...

Do you have a breeder assigned to the fold?

I saw on the wiki that if you have an animal breeder assigned to the fold that they will harvest at a rate of 0.4 per in game hour. A breeder may be the reason for not being able to shear. I haven't tested that theory though.

EDIT: Also noticed on the management tab that there's a percentage showing "readiness" for each adult sheep. Also, there is a fresh pile of wool in my resource storage, so my breeder has been collecting wool.

the readiness is only for yourself, when you're able to shear(last update). Any breeder on the job just has a production rate and that's seperate of your own
What might have caused previous problem was the graphic bug that showed already sheared animals back to full wool after a reload.
