Long bow V's Recurve bow
The Recurve bow cost more but does less damage so why should I buy it?

It shoots faster

Recurve draw and shoot faster, so more damage over time if you need 3-4 shoots to kill someone. And since the recurve shoots faster, the trajectory is straight and you don't have to aim "a little bit higher" when you shoot a longer distance. I prefer the recurve - and I shoot in real life also a recurve and no long bow ;)

Recurve has more durability too.

The Crossbow used properly is more lethal. Many complain it reloads too slowly, but once you get the feel for it I find it to be the best weapon.

It's a recurve bow or iron crossbow for me too. Crossbow may load slower but it's just point and shoot; recurve loads faster but takes me longer to aim until I get used to it (after a break in playing)

Iron crossbow for the win w/ poisoned iron bolts. One shot wisents (head shots).

Has almost no curved trajectory depending on distance so tho draw may be a bit slower it takes NO stamina, aim is easier at any distance and it is more lethal. If you want a little more RP then stick with regular bows. If you just want to shoot a lot of stuff, crossbow is your friend.

Yeah iron xbow is my favorite. But for bows I find the longbow to be better, for the extra damage. With the skill bonus maxed in draw speed, the difference seems negligible. Recurve might be better without the perks maxed, or if you're resource poor and want weapon longevity.
Long bow for the power and range, recurve for speed of draw. So I use the long bow for hunting deer, moose, bear. With that I can one-shot a deer at 50 metres (or 60 if I'm lucky). Can't do that with a recurve bow. The recurve I carry as my regular weapon for quicker reload use when attacked by boar or wolves.
