Important question for Farming: Do all Skills/Talents also benefit villagers or just some?
Since some of the Wiki is outdated following the latest Oxbow patch, I wanted to check with this community (which is one of the best, especially for EA) to get some clarification on skill points.
Skilled Farmer seems really huge but because I take it I do all the harvesting myself. Does it actually apply to villagers too? I'm assuming the % slower Tool Durability Loss applies to tools villagers use, but I doubt Farming Trance does right (same for Stamina Reduction, I haven't noticed vllagers farming faster if I take these skills)

Skilled Orchardman reads like it applies to Villagers and the Player, but Skilled Farmer I'm not sure?

Farmers too?
No, farmers do not work faster. Farmers are the only workers not impacted by their skill level and any production boosts due to mood, perks, seasonal events, king's quests,.... They'll always work the same pace on the fields/orchards and their production is directly tied to the tiles they manage to work.

Your skills don't affect the villagers unless "NPC" is specified -- such as ones found in Diplomacy.

That is a great question and perhaps needs a test.

No need to test. Skills do not apply to villagers unless it says it does like the ones in Diplomacy. Farming skills only apply when you do the work.

Ok so for Diplomacy the "Inspiring Speech" says it increases production speed by 5/15/25%, BUT "production" doesn't start with a capital letter, so does it mean the villagers Production when crafting or does it mean ALL activities are faster IE "productivity"

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Ok just to add on to this because its something I've noticed, Farmers are also the only Job where they don't actually start working till they arrive at your village, correct?
Like I've hired villagers, assigned them to the woodshed and they're immediately producing logs/sticks ect. The ones I assign to the Farm Shed don't seem to start doing anything in the field till they get to the village (Possibly over a hour or so later)

EDIT: Marking your reply as the answer also because I did not know their skill level didn't impact their plowing/sowing speeds. Now I know I don't have to hire people with 3 in Farming at the start of the game

Not Morri, of course, but I'll answer that you're correct.

A Farmer has to travel to their assigned Farm Shed before starting their day.

That is correct, they are the only exception that doesn't start producing immediately when the work day starts.
When the workday starts, they will first go to their farm shed, and from there they'll go to the actual fields. They only start working once they are on the field tile and what they produce is directly tied to their animation and what is on the field tile. So for them it's actually useful to build their homes close to the farm shed and the farm shed close to the fields.

So while woodcutters for example are never cutting actual ingame trees down and will just produce their logs out of thin air, farmers on the contrary will actually influence the game world and make the crops they are harvesting disappear.

Last question, when you "free up" a workstation from a worker, it doesn't actually affect their productivity right? Or does it in certain situations? Also yeah the farm sheds are always built next to the field because I did notice they seem to walk over and you lose a LOT of time if they run out of tools because they go to the farm shed and then have to go back

Correct, it'll just force them to switch to another workstation/animation (which they cycle through randomly anyway), but they'll keep producing just the same.
