Random find

When I was exploring the area, I found a dead horse. No idea how it died and not near a village. No wagon or other things ether. Then When I went to check on it. I found that I could harvest it.
I got like 80 meat and 30 leather from that horse. So it was a good haul for me.

Are dead farm animals a common thing in the game?

I did find a dead horse, but it was on an overturned cart and there where also some arrows sticking from the cart, so it was kinda obvious what happened. Also a dead pig in one of the ruins.
So yes in some forms dead farm animals seem to be possible random finds.

You will often find dead farm animals near predator locations (Wolves & Bears) which can be skinned and scavenged for resources along with the predators once defeated.

I've found a dead bear in a ruin near my village (twice, as it seems to re-spawn) - early game, that's a real find

I found dead animals in various location, even a young deer on a table ready to be skinned.

but the most interesting think I found were 2 goats still alive in the north-east ruins that I can still "tame", unfortunately at that time I didn't had a fold.
Has anyone else ever found any tamable animals?

I found a goat to tame once. He was standing on a table in a ruin, can't remember where. Be sure when he gets back to the settlement that you officially add him to the herd. I didn't and he disappeared, at least that is what I blame it on.

Also found a dead horse w the cart and arrows a while back, both of these things in Oxbow. At my local clay pit between Ostoya and waterfall there are always dead bunnies courtesy of the local wolves.

Yeah, I found the tamable goat. And like you, I didn't have a fold. Naturally, after I got my fold, it was ready to be skinned.
