Is this game worth buying on sale right now? Why and why not?
Thanks.

I doubt many on here will say NO...??
Sorry, if you don't like it, I don't want to be responsible for your loss of money. Go with your gut feeling.

We don't all have the same tastes.

Depends what you look for in a game. Looking at my hours played will probably already tell you that I personally enjoy it a lot. :steamhappy:

Do you like city management games where instead of managing everything in birds-view you actually participate in the world with your own character and eventually your heirs, in the gorgeous medieval setting of 11th Century Bohemia/Poland with survival-lite and RPG elements? Then definitely worth it.

Do you look for games with lots of combat, where you climb up the ranks, defend your base and eventually become king? Then DO NOT buy. In MD you simulate the rather peaceful life of a medieval peasant. You'll stay a peasant throughout the whole game and while there is some aggressive wildlife and some bandits around, that's definitely not the focus of the game.

Do you want a hardcore survival experience, or a full-blown RPG with lots of quests that give you something to do for hours? Then DO NOT buy. It has survival elements, and there are quests, but they are not the main focus of the game. It is more of a sandbox, where you make your own adventure.

Definitely look at some videos and check out the reviews to see if the game is for you.

I personally watched some 5-6 different multi-video playthroughs - sorted by upload date to see the newest, usually with 12-15x replay speeds (a browser extension is required to get such speeds), before deciding to buy the game, as no reviews, recommendations, articles, screenshots can usually convince me, but just raw gameplay, to see if I'll like the game instead of knowing whether someone else liked it. Additionally, such fast replay speeds will give you huge amounts of the gameplay, whether there are visible bugs and without giving away many spoilers for example for the quests. I can recommend doing the same for any game that interests you, instead of asking for very biased opinions on forums dedicated to the game. The only written thing I needed to check on the forums was how playable it is on Steam Deck. However, this all was at the time the game was on a weeklong sale at end of May, so not many other games that got my interest were on the same sale at the time, and I could spend a couple of evenings to watch all of these playthroughs easily (unlike seasonal sales when just browsing even only through matching and all time high discounts on SteamDB, to check things outside of the wishlist takes more than 8 hours a day for 2 weeks).

I can say the game was worth buying at least then. At this time, in the newest version there may be some new bugs introduced by the co-op update that are not yet fixed, but the game is playable, and if you want to play solo on the old map without any bugs, you can downgrade to the version before the co-op update just fine. Many of the bugs introduced by co-op update should be fixed in the following weeks, as plenty of them have been already fixed for the past 3 weeks, after the co-op update released.
all i can say is i bought the game the 28th and i'm already 58 hours in (no menu time in there)

so, you do you, but if you like the game style, it is great and even at 58 hours (couple gameplay even one co-op) i still have barely went 70% of technology unlocked ! so clearly alot of game hours to go.

if you look at $/per hour this game will give you plenty good value IMHO !!

As it is now, Definitely.. The game also allows you to somewhat cheat, in the settings, so you can focus on building and enjoying watching your society grow and have kids..
I've been playing this game on a friend's computer the other day, and the experience didn't change much from when i previously tried the (non steam) version a couple of years ago.
Plenty of bugs (that didn't exist back then), still very superficial medieval topics included in the game (heraldry, war, NPC interactions, advanced economy, religion, and the list goes on... see Guild 3, M&B, KCD, Crusader Kings, Settlers, Banished, or Foundation for content ideas), limited customization, not a real MP but a 4 player coop, no voices and still the micromanagement grind.
In my opinion, in its current state the game isn't worth the discounted 22 euros, let alone the full 30 bucks. I will keep it in my wishlist in case the game makes real actual progress from what it was 2 years ago.

Absolutely worth buying, you will get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of the game if you enjoy settlement builder/managment survival type games.

I have hundreds of hours in the game and still playing. Love the new map and working on getting all the achievements.

That sounds more like an Store page generic text than an honest review/opinion tho lol

This is what steam refunds are for. Don't rely on others to tell you what you like, watch some videos and if the game play interests you, then buy the game and try it for yourself. If you end up not liking it you can get a refund and no harm done.

There are alternative ways to get the game than to relay on Steam Refund.

Playing it on "a friends computer" no doubt...

Exactly. I don't usually spend my money on a early access title (or a product, generally) that i know nothing about and has 99% chance of becoming totally different from what it initially was (i.e phasmo).
But hey, to each their own I guess.

The game was released out of early access 2 years ago and was running very stable. It just had its biggest update so far 3 weeks ago, which overhauled a lot of game mechanics and added a new map, character creation and co-op. Sadly that also introduced some bugs which will hopefully be fixed soon.
