We don't all have the same tastes.
Do you like city management games where instead of managing everything in birds-view you actually participate in the world with your own character and eventually your heirs, in the gorgeous medieval setting of 11th Century Bohemia/Poland with survival-lite and RPG elements? Then definitely worth it.
Do you look for games with lots of combat, where you climb up the ranks, defend your base and eventually become king? Then DO NOT buy. In MD you simulate the rather peaceful life of a medieval peasant. You'll stay a peasant throughout the whole game and while there is some aggressive wildlife and some bandits around, that's definitely not the focus of the game.
Do you want a hardcore survival experience, or a full-blown RPG with lots of quests that give you something to do for hours? Then DO NOT buy. It has survival elements, and there are quests, but they are not the main focus of the game. It is more of a sandbox, where you make your own adventure.
Definitely look at some videos and check out the reviews to see if the game is for you.
I can say the game was worth buying at least then. At this time, in the newest version there may be some new bugs introduced by the co-op update that are not yet fixed, but the game is playable, and if you want to play solo on the old map without any bugs, you can downgrade to the version before the co-op update just fine. Many of the bugs introduced by co-op update should be fixed in the following weeks, as plenty of them have been already fixed for the past 3 weeks, after the co-op update released.
so, you do you, but if you like the game style, it is great and even at 58 hours (couple gameplay even one co-op) i still have barely went 70% of technology unlocked ! so clearly alot of game hours to go.
if you look at $/per hour this game will give you plenty good value IMHO !!
Plenty of bugs (that didn't exist back then), still very superficial medieval topics included in the game (heraldry, war, NPC interactions, advanced economy, religion, and the list goes on... see Guild 3, M&B, KCD, Crusader Kings, Settlers, Banished, or Foundation for content ideas), limited customization, not a real MP but a 4 player coop, no voices and still the micromanagement grind.
In my opinion, in its current state the game isn't worth the discounted 22 euros, let alone the full 30 bucks. I will keep it in my wishlist in case the game makes real actual progress from what it was 2 years ago.
I have hundreds of hours in the game and still playing. Love the new map and working on getting all the achievements.
Playing it on "a friends computer" no doubt...
But hey, to each their own I guess.
