Is It Possible to Build Bridges?
I noticed a bridge in one of the villages, but I couldn't find a way to build one myself (as I'd like the ability to cross a river nicely). Is it possible or am I just out of luck?

It's not possible, unless you do a make-shift one just for looks by dropping planks or by using a half-built fishing hut (only the floor bit).

No you cant build fully working bridges. Probably never will. It's not in the game engine. All you can do is manually create once from wood/planks etc. Then erect fences to guide NPCs to it..

They can be created quite well but npcs crossing will still have their feet at the bottom of the river. so try to pick shallow places. Many examples have been posted and are on You-Yu be.

EDIT: Morri your turn to beat me :-)

There are no "buildable" bridges but people do manage to make substitutes with logs and planks. Try searching youtube for ideas. They only work on narrow strips of shallow water and NPC's usually don't use them because their pathing algorithms don't recognise them.

EDIT: BOTH of you beat me :-(

Well, that's disappointing.

Thanks for letting me know.

Would be nice, if you can place wood logs and planks accurate and they will stay there. But they move and roll most of the time :( So yes, you can build this with hours of patience, but its a pain ...

Is this just an engine limitation or a design choice?

If it is an engine limitation, how does it work for the pre-made ones?

this looks great, definitely stealing this idea for my own bridge.
Better use other pieces:gwent_gg:

Would love to see that from another view. I can't really see what you have done, maybe from side at 45 - 90 degrees would be helpful, overhead side angle. I know, demanding... Thanks.

Very clever. Can you walk on it or does your character slip down into the stream? Now I know what to do with the 4k logs I have stacked up. Thanks!

I walk on the bridge but the NPCs not. The bridge doesn't exist for them, which looks funny because only the upper part is visible. But it's all about immersion.

doubt it is a engine issue as i have put the horse barn over a creek. the questions would be the pathing priority i suppose and how long a bridge can be. the game outside farm plots does not have adjustable buildings(and technically plots are not structures) and could be tricky for player placings to get just right on both sides.

It is not an engine limitation, that user was mistaken. It's just that the developers haven't added such a thing.
