No it isn't

It's not planned as far as I know, since the point is creating a dynasty by having children (and there are no adoption mechanics in the game).

I had a little bet with myself - I lost, it took a week longer than I expected.

Gayness was present in the medieval times. A bunch of rulers and aristocrats were gay. Even the ancient greeks had the saying "women are for making children, men are for love", or something related to that. A lot of greek poetry revolves around loving your next man, so I do not see the point in sticking to a rigid system.

And aditionally to that, the housing.

Medieval records state that a lot of women lived together, without men in the household. They weren't automatically attracted to one another, but they lived together, due to shortage of housing options.

That the game allows you to only put man and woman together, is quite odd and off.

Historically, whole miner settlemens were, suprise, male workers. Whole hunting and war preparation camps and houses were inhabited by, suprise 2, only men.

The real issue is not the traditional sense of "no gays allowed" in medieval times, but the problem is more that the game seems to think that people living together must automatically be shipped together. And that's probably why you can't put 2 women in one house or 2 men.

If you look at the houses, they have 3 beds. So technically, you could and should be able to cram 3 people into the house, without them automatically considering to become a family very soon.

There should be an item like a "marriage arc", that you can use to adjust who is going to become boyfriend and girlfriend, husband and wife, and later, parents.

Something to allow the player to just allow resident workers, or actual families. I get that it's called "Dynasty", but that means the players dynasty. And if the Landlord says "no childrenmaking" then that's the word, if you break the rule, you will be banished. It is what it is.

About the living together part; just saw something interesting in the knowledge tab today: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1129580/discussions/0/4038104598692866547/#c4038104598692966174

Read the red underlined sentences in the two screenshots...

Nothing has been confirmed, but to me it seems that they intend to change how this works in the future.

Indeed.

It'd definitely make sense to allow any two people to share a house and not necessarily result in children. Hopefully the way they coded it is easy to change to allow something like that in the future.

It's hard to tell with these things, though, because you'd also think aligning fields with arbitrary directions would be easy, but it isn't, according to the devs.

This was asked and talked about more than a year ago and one of the DEVS answered no.

It maybe not that they are not willing, but probably its a code that ties into very very many mechanics and is deep in the core of the game so it would be hard to change without breaking other systems. I personally am not offended as it is a game and only a model of what medieval life could have been like and yes there was all kinds of models of living together, but they went for a simple model and built a good game around it. Does it lack many things we would expect, of course, but is a game.

By the way were does all the food and drink you diggest ingame go to? Magic^^

But sharing houses is not marriage. Homosexual marriage was not allowed in the 12th century. But of course two male hunters can live together in that time. And my playercharacter don't look after what they are doing in the night ;) But the thread opener asked fpr marriage, and this would be strange, if they implement it.

With NPCs spouting online memes and movie references every ten seconds, adherence to realism is not an argument for anything. And even if it was, there would be nothing unrealistic about two people of the same sex sharing a house.

As someone who already finds the constant memey jokes grating, I'm completely on board with not making it more pronounced than it already is. But that is a matter of pure personal taste, nothing more. The sole objective, non-hypocritical argument, against it would be technical limitations.

That said, I have no issue with developers doing things based on personal taste. Even if I don't personally share that taste. But lets not confuse that with any kind of objective reasoning.

EDIT: And because I know some categories of people find it important, my perspective is from a guy who likes other guys and have been living with my boyfriend for ten years. Personally I don't find that relevant information but I respect that knowing people's background is important to some people.

If we start to add fantasy features to this game, then where is the limit? Once it goes into a direction it can't be stopped, because people will claim more and more, why those are not added to a game then, if it is not historical anyway?
Gay marriage was not a thing in this period of time, as mobile phones were built either in the medieval age.

Mad hatter request of a topic ...

In ancient Rome, Egypt, Europe and other places child sex; slavery; torture etc were common and allowed. Do you want to go down that rabbit hole??

BTW Same sex MARRIAGE did not happen... Secret love and sex yes, but NOT marriage.

We are fake characters, in a fake place, doing fake things with fake stuff. I just enjoy the game, and every other game I play, as the developers made it. The developers will never be able to satisfy or placate everyone's desired features. Just have fun with what it is, and if you can't, move on to another game.

While the community wanted co-op I am thinking it has not become a good thing. The game was fun and relaxing. Now there are calls to play as a werewolf, guy marriage and complaints about sexist remarks. The some of the newer community seem to want to redirect the game and change. Should 2 men get married? does not fit the time period or geographical location(even in greece gay marriage was not a thing, yet gay relationships were). 2 men living in the same house, yes that would of happened, but there is game play... you had to think and plan who and when you could invite someone to your village. I have heard comments of severe winters and unkillable animals.... NO you are just not a good player, I played the valley for months before oxbow and had to adjust my game play, in areas I was now failing. At the end of the day, this is just a game.
