And aditionally to that, the housing.
Medieval records state that a lot of women lived together, without men in the household. They weren't automatically attracted to one another, but they lived together, due to shortage of housing options.
That the game allows you to only put man and woman together, is quite odd and off.
Historically, whole miner settlemens were, suprise, male workers. Whole hunting and war preparation camps and houses were inhabited by, suprise 2, only men.
The real issue is not the traditional sense of "no gays allowed" in medieval times, but the problem is more that the game seems to think that people living together must automatically be shipped together. And that's probably why you can't put 2 women in one house or 2 men.
If you look at the houses, they have 3 beds. So technically, you could and should be able to cram 3 people into the house, without them automatically considering to become a family very soon.
There should be an item like a "marriage arc", that you can use to adjust who is going to become boyfriend and girlfriend, husband and wife, and later, parents.
Something to allow the player to just allow resident workers, or actual families. I get that it's called "Dynasty", but that means the players dynasty. And if the Landlord says "no childrenmaking" then that's the word, if you break the rule, you will be banished. It is what it is.
Read the red underlined sentences in the two screenshots...
Nothing has been confirmed, but to me it seems that they intend to change how this works in the future.
Indeed.
It's hard to tell with these things, though, because you'd also think aligning fields with arbitrary directions would be easy, but it isn't, according to the devs.
By the way were does all the food and drink you diggest ingame go to? Magic^^
As someone who already finds the constant memey jokes grating, I'm completely on board with not making it more pronounced than it already is. But that is a matter of pure personal taste, nothing more. The sole objective, non-hypocritical argument, against it would be technical limitations.
That said, I have no issue with developers doing things based on personal taste. Even if I don't personally share that taste. But lets not confuse that with any kind of objective reasoning.
EDIT: And because I know some categories of people find it important, my perspective is from a guy who likes other guys and have been living with my boyfriend for ten years. Personally I don't find that relevant information but I respect that knowing people's background is important to some people.
Gay marriage was not a thing in this period of time, as mobile phones were built either in the medieval age.
In ancient Rome, Egypt, Europe and other places child sex; slavery; torture etc were common and allowed. Do you want to go down that rabbit hole??
BTW Same sex MARRIAGE did not happen... Secret love and sex yes, but NOT marriage.
