Yes, the player character can only have one child. Maybe they'll add this in the future when they allow co-op players to marry each other and have children together.

Unless it has changed, you can only get a second child once you have transferred control to your heir and your character becomes an NPC.

OK. Then I build the house for 4 persons for nothing?

Well you can live like a king... add your own build up furniture, hang stuff on the wall etc and when you pass over to your child (from 18 on) [the old] you CAN have more kids.

Npc's can have multiple children. Which is why houses with 4 beds exist.

I could be wrong but does the ability to assign your child to another house (at age 18) and give them a mate still allow us to have another kid?

It won't. It's hardcoded atm to only be able to have one child, to prevent confusion about who will be the heir when your character dies.

Ah alright, that makes sense. Is there any way to ensure who our heir is in that case? It bummed me out having a girl when I would like to keep playing as a male. Only thing I have found searching is to save before the child is born and then reload if it's a gender you don't want to play as.

That's indeed the only option atm. They might add something in the future to let us pick though.

That sounds reasonable but it was not very complicated in the medieval times. That boy first born inherits all.

Will it be possible to remove beds from our houses, if we do not need them?
If I can have one child, I only need one bed. The freed up area could be decorated.
More space...

Unlikely, though it's a neat suggestion.

Well in many cases the kids was supposed yo each get an equal inheritance, but the oldest boy got the main farm. If there was multiple boys, the farm was often split up in several smaller farms. Girls got married off and moved to their husbands farm so no need to split it up for them.
