Hyper agressive animals
Hello, I just started playing the game again after a long time. While playing on the Oxbow, I notice animals like wolves and Wisents, seem to be much more agressive than I remember. In the past, Wisents wouldn't attack me if I held a torch, and wolves would only attack if you came pretty close. Did the new update change something regarding the animal behaviour, and if so, is there a way to revert this?

Yes, animals were re-tuned to be much more aggressive. No, there is no way to change this in settings.

I think there's a way to go back to a prior version of the game using a "beta code" but I don't know much about that, and you'd lose out on everything else the update changed.

Even foxes attack you now if you come too near ... and they are killers ;)

They are more aggressive and harder to kill - even at 10% strength. They'll also sense you from farther away, so have fun if you're a lousy shot like I am.

the settings for animals are bugged so the 10% doesnt matter. i dont like the distance they aggro.

The setting is bugged and not working at the moment.

I think they are not agressive enough. For example the mouse. I lived in Alaska and there people are more afraid of a mouse than a bear. More people die a year from mouse attacks, than from bear attacks. Mouse is a very agressive animal. In the game, it is just another harmless deer. This should be fixed. Predators in the game should be patrolling their territory and not just stand around, like some shooting gallery targets. This is a SURVIVAL game as well as village building game.

I'm sorry. But now I picture people being chased by very aggressive mice. :-D

I see the dynasty franchise as first person life sims at the moment. I have them all. I wouldnt call farmers/lumberjacks/medievel/wild west/sengoku survival games. Survival games for me are the zombie/acopalyptic/stranded on a desert island type games out there of which there are zillions .Tho with the adding of zombie like bandits to medievel and sengoku and pirates and vampires to come then maybe survival is where the franchise is heading? Forget to mention that farmers dynasty 2 is on the horizon as well now so all is not lost for those of us who want the more historically relaxing and chill dynasty gaming experience.

I’ve had a lot of trouble with this, especially because they seem to sense you before you can even “see” them using your tracking sight or before the sound settings signal they are even in the area (like hearing growls or other cues). So I’ll be walking on a road, I hear no growls or other sounds and see no “red spots” indicating any hostile animals in the area and all of a sudden there’s a wolf attacking me.

I don’t have a problem with some additional aggressiveness but I think the “warning mechanisms” should also be retuned to allow us to be vigilant and try to avoid things. Or perhaps make the roadways a “safe” space (decreased aggro radius while you’re on a road). Especially since it is hard to even run away from some of these animals (wisent are faster than me even when I’m sprinting and wolf and boar can be deadly if you run the “wrong way” and tire before you can leave aggro range).

I also have no idea what is up with the foxes. I’ve gotten close to some and they run off. Then I pass by a second and it attacks. Is there a logic to their behavior (meaning they attack under X condition but not under Y condition) or is it kind of random. Also seems like the other “yellow” animals (badgers, lynx - the ones that have always run when approached but attacked if injured) aren’t doing the same thing.

I'm glad they amped up the aggressiveness for those who want more "action." I just wish they'd return the ability to virtually turn it off for those of us who have never cared for the hunting aspect. That was one of the things that I loved about MD, you could tailor the game they way that's fun for you. Right now, even though I have animals down to 10% (lowest available) and me with unlimited HP, it still takes a long time to deal with four boars that are hitting me simultaneously from opposite direction. I've found that it's easier to deal with them using fists rather than an ax because by the time the ax swings, they've already passed me and I'm just hitting air. And this morning, one of 'em got away with my copper arrow in its face. I managed to hit him a few more times and he started running away. I tried to chase him but his friends kept me busy and by the time I dispatched them, he and my arrow were long gone. An arrow in the face with a few body punches and he's still going at 10% strength. No wonder when I'm near animals my first response is, "oh, this crap again." At least I get some coin turning their leather into simple bags.

Just as soon as I posted this, I managed to single shot five deer and a moose. That's the first time I've been able to do that in Oxbow. Go figure, all I did was unpause a game in session.

Sneaking is essentially useless in Oxbow, which makes hunting useless. Hunting was my favorite part of the game. But it doesn't feel or behave like hunting anymore.
