Hunters barely gathering materials
In older playthroughs I used to be able to get a decent amount of meat, leather, and fur from hunters. Now I barely get 1-2 each per day with 2 hunters. Was this nerfed intentionally or a bug?

- Hunting Lodge
- Workshop

So after upgrading to Hunting lodge II, you should be getting a lot more than from lodge I.
This was intended.

So what they produce has been nerfed compared to how it used to be before the co-op update, but not as bad as you originally thought. As you upgrade your buildings, it should be a lot more doable. (Also keeping in mind that meat now has a much higher food value than it had before the update - +16 vs +2 )

There should also be a difference when you play Oxbow solo vs co-op. In solo mode you should receive more.
This to balance out the fact that in co-op multiple players having the diplomacy perks like Inspiring Speech will stack.

So that sounds good to me.

The raw material production has been intentionally nerfed

This was nerfed intentionally, because you got a ridiculous high amount before. The entire production, prices and durability has been revamped.

But, raw meat used to give only +2 food value, while now it gives +16, so yes; they do gather less, but it'll last you longer.
Are there any work-arounds? I mean, I guess I could build 10 hunter buildings but still...
My issue isn't the meat but fur and leather. You still need a fair amount to make any form of clothing. I used to sell Fur Boots by the ton in older playthroughs as an early money maker.

The workaround is to do the hunting yourself. Animals(especially big game) give ridiculous amounts of meat now. I can go out hunting for 5 minutes and have like 300 meat.

Then you can just set your hunter to make dried meat. Or roast it up yourself for the exp gain.

You can basically free up a villager to work somewhere else by doing a bit of the hunting yourself.

Only work-around I can think of is upping the XP gain to max in the customisation settings so your hunters level up faster.
Only right now I think that setting is bugged (i'm not 100% sure), so you'd have to wait til it's fixed.
It's not a meat issue, it's a fur/leather issue.

So it is the intention to make the hunters useless ?
Sounds like a bad plan to me.

They are not useless; they just need to level their skills.
In my opinion the whole point of having workers is to automate production. While I can and have gone out and murder Wisents for a crapton of leather, I should be able to subcontract that to my workers. What's the point of having them otherwise?

My hunters have been hunting for 2 in-game years and they are still level 2. I was hoping to see progress at some point with their leveling.

Try putting a level 2 hunter to work. Poor thing is in fact pretty useless and is leveling so slowly it's almost not noticeable. I might ck out fisher though, maybe that has changed a bit. Sure wish there were patch notes so we could figure out what is a bug and what is a change. (I know, still nagging about that but it's a pretty crucial oversight)

With the recent changes I think it's even more important to try to get people who start with level 3 in the skill that corresponds to the job you want to give them. Skill affects productivity, and productivity affects skill gain, so a level 3 hunter will not only produce 50% more goods than a level 2 hunter, they will (as a direct result of that) also reach the next level 50% faster.

The change to the relative value of raw meat vs cooked meat is actually one of the changes I'm least happy about. In combination with the much lower nutrition gain from combining foods into stews, etc, it's now a lot less beneficial to feed your people cooked foods. It feels like cooking in general is now mainly for players, and you might as well let your workers eat raw meat and veg.

I mean, it's been like that since v1. For the amount of labour that goes into producing a cooked food, it's never been worth it versus eating raw vegetables. Even with all vegetables being equally at 4 nutrition, it's still WAY more efficient to just hire more farmers.

My hunter now bring 3 (!) meat a day with a level 3 skill? Its just the meat he eats self - seems very low ratio :(
