Fatal Error Solution
If you can not start the Game because you get this "UE4 Medieval_Dynasty Game has crashed...Fatal Error" issue, just follow this easy steps.
- locate your Gamefolder of Medieval and go into it
- go into Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us
- delete the file UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe
- close steam and restart it
- after restart rightclick Medieval in Steam, Properities, Verify integrity files.
This will steam find an issue and download 1 new file. After that, start the game and enjoy.

Credits goes to ☜★☞ KAMI ™ ☜★☞ and me for try and error half the day. 😁

PS: @Devs, at least you do not need to go back into office (i ordered you in a post if you readed 😁)

I'll put this as a sticky for now; til the devs have a solution in a patch.

tried it, did not work for me...

Same, didn't work.
Please install the UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe and then delete the file and start the game. It worked for me. Now play the game without the .exe

In my case the Steam app was showing NO CONNECTION at the bottom. Restarted the Steam, run the game, didn't get any Fatal error.

I did the manipulation, it still doesn't work, even if I want to play a new game

So I ran through these steps and had no luck but found a solution that worked for me after the fact. My issue was caused by running the game with DX11 rather than DX12. So to get into the game again, I had to set it to run as admin with the following steps:

  1. Right-Click Medieval Dynasty in your steam library
  2. Choose 'Manage' -> 'Browse Local Files'
  3. Right-Click 'Medieval_Dynasty.exe' and choose 'Properties'
  4. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab at the top of the window
  5. Click to add a check to the box next to 'Run this program as an administrator'
  6. Click on 'OK'
  7. Try to run the game again. It may take a few seconds for the admin prompt to appear prior to launching, but should load without error.
  8. Go to 'Settings' -> 'Graphics'
  9. Change 'Rendering Mode' from DX11 to DX12
THE NEXT STEPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS LOADING THE NEW MAP/MULTIPLAYER

Once it has been set to DX12, saved, and closed you need to disable run as admin.
  1. Right-Click Medieval Dynasty in your steam library
  2. Choose 'Manage' -> 'Browse Local Files'
  3. Right-Click 'Medieval_Dynasty.exe' and choose 'Properties'
  4. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab at the top of the window
  5. Click to remove the check to the box next to 'Run this program as an administrator'
  6. Click on 'OK'

At this point if your issue was the same as mine, you should be all set so long as you don't set it back to DX11. This was on a Windows 10 pc. It may be different for another OS. Hopefully this helps!

PC:
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU: ATI 6700 XT
OS: Windows 10 -- 22H2

This fix did not work for me.

However, reinstalling the game did. If you're struggling to open the game or get the error, a reinstall might just fix it for you.

Hey everyone;

My friend was having issues with getting the game to run post co-op update. He kept receiving "Fatal error" with a variety of different error codes. Then only way we found we could make the game work, after trying a lot of different fix attempts, was to;

1) Close Steam via Task Manager
2) Right Click on the Steam Desktop Icon
3) Properties
4) Compatibility
5) Check, "Run this program in compatibility mode for, and select Windows 8 if not already selected
6) Apply and OK
7) Restart PC
8) Run Steam as normal via desktop icon (the administrator window should pop up, select yes)
9) If Steams prompts you saying some features may be disabled due to compatibility mode, disregard by checking the box to not display the warning again
10) Run the game as normal

We found this to be successful in fixing the consistent fatal error crashes.

One thing to note, If you do run into issues because of the compatibility mode, you could always select specifically to run the games .exe file as admin, but I haven't tested this quite yet and cant confirm it would fix my friends issue.

All the best and I hope this was helpful to someone!

Kayjun
