Also keep in mind that Sengoku Dynasty is still in early access and not all of its systems are in place yet, while Medieval Dynasty has been out of early access for 2 years already, and while it still receives updates, you can consider it a more complete and polished game.
Ofc, that also might mean that in the end when Sengoku gets out of early access, it may contain more stuff than MD has, though that's hard to predict.
As for graphics; Sengoku uses UE5, while MD uses UE4, so eventually Sengoku might end up looking better (even though imo MD looks great already).
In terms of gameplay, there are some differences. I haven't played Sengoku yet, so can't comment much on them, but I do know that for example in Medieval Dynasty, your villagers will gather resources and produce items throughout the whole day and you will find those immediately in the storage as soon as they were gathered/produced, while in Sengoku you will only see the resources and items after the season ends. There's probably quite a lot of other small changes as well.
In short; if it was me: if it's for playing right now: I would go for Medieval Dynasty (since I don't like early access games).
If it's for playing at a later date; Sengoku might offer more gameplay once it gets out of EA, so I would be a bit more on the fence, although I really really love a medieval setting, so I might stick with MD. Hard to say at this moment.
If you haven't already, definitely also ask this question on the Sengoku forums, since a lot of players there are familiar with MD and can probably give you a better comparison!
So if you have an older machine, definitely also take that into account.
Is Sengoku quite bugy? I do love the japanese setting however but would hate out to miss on features that already exist here and might not there yet. Also sometimes a very bugy experience ruins the fun in early access games for me.
Its been a while since I played sengoku dynasty and im sure update have come out and are in progress but it was quite buggy and peasants barely did any work. Work stations/assignments just seemed to not work for the most part.
Get Medieval Dynasty unless you want coop. Although I think thats coming to medieval dynasty soon
Its VERY rare a developer takes the time to be so honest and informative. This reply alone makes me want to purchase 1 of their games. Probably the more finished games since im SICK of EA games that show promise and alot { not talking about these } go completely in a different direction OR dont go anywhere at all.
The Day Before releases in 3 days and their community still doesnt know if its a scam or not due to radio silence from the developers and no streaers have gotten advanced copies of what we all want to be a good game.
so to show support for a good dev team I'll but MD.
So meine persönliche Meinung jetzt dazu.
I share your sentiment on EA games, though in this publisher (different devs but same publisher for MD and Sengoku) I have faith, because of what they have proven in the past and also because I know a few people working there. So I doubt that Sengoku will become a disappointment. Still, I rather wait til it's out of EA before I commit my time to a game.
(O, and if you are interested in buying MD, from what i was told it might go on sale for the co-op update next week, so definitely wait til then.)
I'm a fan of the Middle Ages.
Unbiased Vote: Medieval Dynasty
Medieval Dynasty has more content and is more polished than Sengoku Dynasty. The only thing Sengoku Dynasty has that Medieval Dynasty doesn't have is co-op but that's going to change on December 7.
