Rotate field
Hey, everybody.
My inner perfectionist is outraged. Is it possible to edit the placement of a field by rotating it on an axis?

Devs have said this will not be possible to how the pathing AI of the farmers is programmed. Fields and orchards will always align on the north-south axis. So if you want them to match up with your buildings, you'll have to place the buildings that way as well.

Oh, man, I'm gonna have to figure something out.:steamfacepalm:
Tnx)

You can use a thin strip of field to help you align the building with, and then afterwards destroy the strip of field again. That's how I do it :-)

I put up the outline of a simple fence and use that to align my buildings, then delete it. Also aligning is easier in 3rd person.

LIES!

The game clearly tells us it's because it's the law.

I use the compass at the top of the screen to line up buildings, roads, and fences N-S or E-W. You can also go into Photo Mode and view items you're about to build from various angles to confirm before placing - this is especially useful when placing buildings along curved roads.

Yes Its a national crisis, maybe we can get the UN involved? I mean this kind of horrible thing, and is nobody thinking of the children?

If that's the main criteria for you to like or don't like a game than this game is defenitely not your game. Please do not buy this game.

If "almost all" your joy of this game stems from virtual fields with free axis, surely you can find a different game which is more suited to your extremely-niche hobby of free-placing virtual fields, without any of the other gameplay bringing you down?

As @larrysteele posted, using the compass to design your village using a default N S E W direction is the easiest way to ensure straight alignment with structures. My latest attempt at a village in Oxbow is just that. Have a look...

I know it doesn't help you out with your current build design, but we learn by mistakes and keep building with better design layouts.

Isn't it against the law to make fields that don't adhere to NSEW?
cygnusx1 Jan 7, 2024 @ 5:26am
You really want your fields on the flattest land and should start laying them out first. Then place your buildings accordingly. I think the only reason buildings and structures rotate is for when you try to build them close to hills, obstacles and uneven terrain.

The "Law" in the game is for the Villagers AI. When Reaping, Sowing or Plowing, they follow the N S E W path programmed into the fields.

Whoops. I put my farms on the worst terrain -- anywhere too uneven for buildings. Thankfully, they just fixed some of the issues with villagers getting stuck when working on steep terrain.

How do you know? The game is on Epic and Consoles. They may be playing it on another platform. Just because they don't play it on Steam doesn't mean that don't play.
