You only need it for the first few hours of a new season. About lunchtime, the repairs are done.
Many players have already asked for the ability to actually build other buildings or at least walls and fences.
Another great use of it, imo, could be connecting it to the Resource Storages.
So it won't add (much) capacity to the storage-system, but could be used
as a smaller option to access the shared inventory. As long as a villager is assigned.
If there's a Hammer in the Builders Huts chest, it should be used first,
but if there is none, it should be taken from the Resource Storage.
