Rye grain

I have over 600 rye grains in my resource storage yet my barn worker says there is no rye grain resources.

Barn works don't use the Grain ... they create the grain from the rye plant. I think you're getting mixed up.

There's rye and rye grain. The latter is made by threshing the first.
Maybe you got something selected that needs rye, not rye grain? Or vice verca?

This is a bit confusing so here's my limited knowledge of understanding the process, rye grain is planted in the field which produces rye which is turned into rye grain in the threshing floor in the barn and the cycle is repeated. However, the barn worker can't produce rye grain because she doesn't have rye, phew. Also I have nothing in the kitchen that uses rye so over the years I should have a accumulation of rye.

There isn't anything other than threshing rye, when you thresh the rye crop you end up with rye grain and straw. There are three things you need rye grain for and that is rye seed, animal feed and rye flour.

Check to make sure you have put it in the correct storage. I'm not sure if workers will get food from resource storage and vice versa. I haven't tested that theory though.

All of the rye products go into the resource storage. Your workers will take what they need from there whether it is for threshing, rye grain, animal feed, planting or for rye flour. Your baker/cook will take rye flour from the resource storage even though it is used to make food stuff.

When you harvest the rye you can place it in the barn chest but there is no need to if you have farmers. The same goes for rye grain, you can put the rye grain you want to save for planting in the farm shed chest but it will not be used for animal feed or rye flour.

You need Rye in your resource storage for your barn workers to make Rye Grain.

You need Rye Grain in your resource storage for your farmers to plant Rye.

If your barn can't make Rye Grain, its because you don't have Rye. Chances are your barn worker used up all the Rye that you had and you're looking at the end product, your 600 Rye Grain which your farmers would use.
