Building a dock...looking for ideas.
With no boats in the game (yet), houses on the shore of a river or lake seem to lack a dock, if only for aesthetic reasons. I'm interested in ideas for building a dock.

What a number of people have done is started a fishing dock but only build the foundation. Then add decoration items like baskets, fishing spears, etc. It's purely visual and can't be used for anything.

By placing the foundation (still in the ghost plan), you can position the house and fishing hut very close together and ensure that the door doesn't face the dock. Once the foundations are in place, you can move the door towards the dock and you'll see that the steps are on top of the dock.

I agree, what a brilliant idea to combine it with the house like that. Absolutely amazing!
Thanks.

I forgot to mention that the house foundation have to be place first as far into the water. The fishing hut don't like to touch the land.

Can you place them both as blueprints then build, or do you have to build the house first?
Both need to be blueprints so they can be placed close together. (Don't build the foundations yet). But the house first, as you can push it a little into the water. And make sure the door isn't where the dock will be, the steps will prevent the dock from butting against the house. There's a gap, but not as big as if the foundations were built.

When you done, then you can move the door.

Note that this doesn't work everywhere along the shore, it's a matter of trial and error.

Edit, I made my dock in the swamp, it looks like the house can be placed on the edge or a bit in the shallow water but can't be that close to the deeper water.
I checked along the main river and lakes and it can't be done as the gap is too big.

I'm sorry, I should have checked this before.

There are different depths on the riverbanks, too. I wonder if some of the shallower/gentler sloping shores might work, like near Gostovia where the reeds are is pretty shallow.

people do some amazing work arounds with the limitations lol...its weirdly like the original kerbal. medieval dynasty types take decorating and construction very seriously! lol great job mate!

Пробував будувати міст з риболовних причалів через річку, з'єднуючи дошками один з одним але ходити по дошках неможливо- провалюєшся

Is there ANY way to make the Fishing Huts -actually- fit with the docks, like they have in that fishing-village?

It looks really cool to have a city on water, or at the very least a village where the fishermen can work from a system of fishing-huts that is literally standing in the water and connected by the docs.

But I can't find any way to make this work (in a way the NPC's can use) with the current fishing-huts.

(Nor do I think you can build a house on the docks, sadly. Or those cool fishing-boats those Indian ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ have. That's be neat. Or houseboats! ^_^
Okay, so maybe those aren't really fitting in. But humans have always found a way to build on water. Somehow. It's even in THIS game. ...but not for players to build, that I have seen. *Sigh*)

Will a later design include this option?

You mean something like this:

In the bridge guide there are two possibilities how to build this. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3307856078

If it is important to you that the NPCs walk directly from the bridge to the fishing hut, you should stick to option 2.
