On screen Quick Slot menu missing?

Just came back after a long while (prior to even discussion of bandits) and saw the HUD Quick Slot menu was missing. After some searching, I found you now can use middle mouse to pop one up, controller style.

Is there a way of getting the old Quick Slot tool bar across the bottom?

Not sure if this helps, but I don't use that at all. All the Quick Slot things are accessible by simply pressing the relevant key (that's how I do it)
1 - 8
I have
1=Axe
2=Hammer
3=Spade
4=Pick axe
5=Weapon
6-8 farm stuff

Not sure where that was placed then, because even though I didn't play back then, even on old early access videos I see no quick slot tool bar at the bottom.

Having it constantly on the screen while you work around would be annoying imo, so just memorize which items you put where and use the keybind to quickly select it. If you put the same items in the same spot all the time, it'll be easy to remember.

Maybe you are thinking of some other game? I did play in Early Access and with regard to quick slots nothing has changed (unless it was really really early access, like the first few months back in 2019), no quick slot bar on screen, just number keys or middle mouse button.

There has never been a tool bar selector on screen. Just the currently equipped item shown on the right of the screen.

Depending on your keybindings you can also select the mouse scroll wheel to move between the tools as well.
