Optimizing Graphic Options
Hello, recently I upgraded my monitor from 1080p to 1440p. I can play fine mostly around 60-70fps. But near river, lake, heavy forest etc my fps drops below 60fps. Its currently around 55-60 when walking near river at my village for example.
I have Rx 5700 card overclocked. Here are my graphic settings in this game:

Any settings I can lower without severely impacting visual quality?

Just out of curiosity: do you even notice anything stuttering when you move around? Or any weird slow graphics? Or is it just the number that your fps counter tells you is lower now than you used to have?

Because according to what I can find, the human eye can only see between 30 and 60 frames per second anyway. So why would you care about having more than 60 fps as long as you don't lag?

I too run a 5700 but the XT version. I was once told by the Devs that Ultra settings are mostly there for pretty screenshots and that game could be played on all high with very little effect on image quality when playing. I run all high on my machine at 1440p and get a very smooth experience that looks stunning.
But seriously this game is not about FFS and you should not be concerned about hitting a particular number. If it looks pretty and you are seeing no stutters then it's running fine.

Thanks, since below 60 is noticable, I am trying to increase minimum fps above 60 in all places. I experienced little stuttering at first but its ok now. If I can main 60+ everywhere that will be enough for me.

thanks, maybe I can reduce something a little so that I can maintain 60fps (its between 50-60+ now)

I set everything besides textures on medium/low and work my way from there. In my experience textures are very important so you want them as high as possible, but everything else can be lowered without that much of an impact.

This is especially true on 1440p compared to 1080p which in general improves image quality a lot by itself.

Note that this is just general advice since I dont own the game yet but it should still hold true for the most part.

Thanks! This is the most demanding game besides rdr2 in my arsenal. But I love it!:presidente:

Does the monitor support G/Freesync? What's the refresh rate?

It should handle dips under 60 fairly well, though. That's one of the nice things about that technology and higher refresh rates... even at lower fps you get cleaner motion.

even without texts from my link, is this guy never ever used a monitor can display with framerate more than 60 fps?

Most amazing thing is I can't use insulting words to this 'Mo' because of steam community policy. and the funniest thing is, As I have seen, steam's discussion is full of these kinda 'ron'.

Genuinely puzzled at what is so bad in your life that you would feel the need to insult me over this?
I'm not a doctor, nor a scientist and nowhere did I state I know the absolute truth, only that this is what I was told and found online (and therefore believed). I'm always open to new information though.

That I happen to be a mod isn't important here, you shouldn't be trying to insult anyone on the forums, we will warn/ban you just the same... ;-)

The funny thing is if you read the article they are using a test that really doesn't correlate with gaming. They are flashing a different image in between the same images, which really has nothing to do with a video game. When playing you are basically looking at the same screen and yes you might notice a different image appear at a high fps, but if it was the same image already displayed you would have no idea. Since video game aren't throwing in random images this research seems pointless when it comes to gaming.

One of the comments in that discussion mentions how people perceive wheels on a vehicle traveling next to them on the highway. Also, according to that article a person should be able to see the wings of a hummingbird hovering at a flower or feeder.

In general, the heaviest performance costs are generally lighting, so shadows, resolution, so use upscaling if possible, and ground clutter, so the distance and density of grass and such.

I always start by reducing those as much as I'm willing to tolerate and then gauging performance from there.
