Uhm you are aware this is a game right. I don't have so many hours to spend on gaming than on real life, so the game should be short-cutted. On the other hand, especially with the Fast Building option in the Test branch and all the world settings, there is nothing to complain for this game.
Alternately you can play in Creative Mode I reckon. Haven't tested that out yet, because it feels like cheating.
The excavation shed doesn't really provide loads of stone, but it gets other stuff that can save you time.
Once I start mining copper and tin, in the caves, the amount of stone renders picking up from the ground pointless.
Also, after you stop picking up all the the stuff from the ground it becomes plentiful, so if you need 1 or 2 (like for a bird trap) it's there and available.
Yes a new start IS frustrating ... Flippin woodcutter wants a new stone axe every day ... LoL (until I get to the point where I can afford and make a bronze one, or steal one :) ) That's the whole point..
Hints:- In whatever order ...
1 - build your house
2 - build a hunter (that's food sorted, feathers - for cash)
3 - build an excavator (that's stones etc)
4: - build a woodcutter (that's logs/planks/firewood)
as soon as you can build food/resource store
So total 5 houses, 4 workplaces and staff. That takes only a few hours. At least that's what I do.. If you want a 'quick' way to get stone ... 6 stone pickaxes, get up to the north mine and get the copper and tin. You will also get tuns and tuns of stone... To get to the mine head west from Gostovia, over the second bridge then north. OR pass the second bridge, cross the river (you can walk across) then follow the stream, it leads right to it. (look on the map. you'll see what I mean.. You can even start a town there if you want. It's between Baranaca and Branica (if that's the right names) slightly north. No bears at that one :)
That will take a little while, but you then have all the basics giving you time to wander, collect stuff, mine, expand
My next 'new start' is going to be high up in the mountains if I can find the room to build up there :)
This time round, after some advice. I'm not hyper focusing on the quests yet. I just got my house up. As I build more houses and their respective workstations I will invite more people to live and work here, slowly growing from a work camp into a village. I'm Getting stones as I go and from breaking rocks, also getting limestone, clearing trees, and Im dumping all that into a resource pile. ( I hope it doesn't disappear)
I'm taking some time to explore the area and find many useful items that have been abandoned. Hunting and getting that meat leather and fur, killing bandits (coins, food and wine to sell) etc.
If you spread out a little I think you will find it more enjoyable.
And yes you can change all kinds of game mechanics at any point during your game.
I had to change my mindset and think like a medieval peasant. Life is short but the days are long and time is slow. The only clock is the sun and the seasons. Life is good in my little medieval town.
Oh and I almost forgot. Craft a bunch of knives and sell them until you have enough to get the large backpack in Denica. It is a serious QOL improvement. no more carrying logs in my pockets :D
i understand but.. i'm suggesting that give option to the players, some people might like the slow struggling start where as some people like me who plays on weekends..i cant spend 200 hrs......im 20 hrs in the game and my fingers are aching..... i'm saying the game has potential to cater to many different styles of gamers.... just like they have introduced "weight, stamina cheats" which are in game..... also provide coins and resources multiplier options.....i'm not asking the devs to change anything in the game...just give options.. 300 500 coins for cart ride and 15000 for a horse...i mean come on....i kinda guessed it will atleast take 40-50 hrs into the game just to buy a horse....thats not fair for players who play twice a week and to relax...
When I first started this game I used the customisation options to make it as easy as possible, got my nice village built within a couple years and had absolutely nothing to do at that point but wait for the years to go by.
Now I am largely playing the game properly minus using the 1000% XP for the dynasty reputation mostly because I don't like doing the side quests and just want to focus on my village and the main and family quests. I have quick crafting on for personal use, for making tools when I am out in the middle of nowhere other than that I use and sell only what my villagers are producing, everything else is set to default.
Compared to those customised play through's where I only managed 2 - 5 years before losing interest, I have just hit year 15 in my current game and still enjoying myself, its been a couple months put about 100 hrs into this one play through so far.
