waggoner near own village - taxes per season or day?
I have been playing every evening since I bought the game a week ago. I have a few uncertainties.
Initially I started a new world with 4 days per season and now set it to 7 days per season. I've now survived 1 year and paid taxes (which in the settings I had set to only 50%). But how does this work? Are taxes counted per season or by number of days in the season?

Then something else: I haven't neared any quest where I can get a donkey / horse. I occasionally do a story mode quest, while I spend most time building my village and yesterday I had enough buildings for villagers to stay. Anyways my village is about 600 metre from the closest town and I was wondering if it is possible down the road to have my own Waggoner, that I can make use of. Also I'd like to know where I can buy a donkey and if it is necessary to first progress through the story line.

Finally another question. I read somewhere that if you leave the trunks of trees standing they will eventually grow back. How many seasons do I have to wait before trees grow back? Is it also possible to grow trees myself, so same as an orchard I could have a patch for growing maple / oak or whatever other tree is around?

Taxes are calculated on the number of buildings and fields you have at the start of the year.

Trees take two years to re-grow.

Fast transport near you village has been mentioned before but there is no sign of it yet. Maybe never.

It will take quite a while before you can get a horse or donkey (donkey a good bit sooner than a horse).

Basically this is a slow game, oft repeated advice is "don't rush or try to grow your village too fast". Take your time, relax, grow some flax for easy money!

Donkeys are purchased in Tutki after you unlock the tech level

Taxes are calculated each season for all buildings and land you own at the time of season's end (so if you build a new house during the season, and break it down again before the season ends, you won't have to pay taxes on it). How many days are in the season doesn't matter.
Don't be confused about the total amount shown in the main screen. Those are the taxes you will owe coming spring calculated from the past seasons this year, NOT the current season.
So let's say all your buildings and land cost you 1000 coin each season. Then in Summer it'll show you 1000, which is the taxes you'll owe for the past spring. In Autumn it'll show you 2000, which is the taxes you'll owe for past spring and summer. In Winter it'll show you 3000, which are the taxes you'll owe for past spring, summer and autumn. Then in Spring, it'll show you have to pay 4000. Once you pay that, it'll show 0 again.

You can't have your own waggoneer. Some people build their settlement close to an existing
village on purpose, so they can use the existing waggoneer of that village to get home (or close to home).

Buying a horse or donkey is not necessary for any quest.
All farm animals (including the horses and donkeys) can be bought in the villages by interacting with the animal directly - NOT the npc. If you want to know where to find them, you can talk to any village npc and choose the dialog option 'where to find farm animals'

If you leave the trunk of a tree, it'll grow back in 2 years (so 8 ingame seasons).
You cannot plant them yourself sadly.

I reckon I need to have a good village going first, so I can make some money and won't have to craft 1000 knives, before being able to buy a donkey. And donkeys probably also need food and a stable?

I highly recommend exploring your build menu. It will answer a lot of questions for you.

There's actually a fair amount of content now and there are a lot of ways to make money. One of the things I find more interesting about the game is expanding those ways of making dosh for myself. And yes, there IS a superior way to do it but I hate spoilers so you'll nothing from me!!!! Mwahahahaha.

Take your time. No need to rush in this game. Money isn't that hard to get honestly.

You can only buy an animal when you have a spot in their animal building for them. So yes, you'll need a donkey shelter. Surprisingly, none of your animals need animal feed to survive. But you will need to give them feed if you want more produce (like eggs or milk) and if you want them to be able to reproduce.

That is fine CtMurphy. I have some ideas how I want to make money the right way in the game without making knives and Im aware that I cannot do everything at once.
So far the only reason for getting money in the game is to unlock things to craft, which often is useless furniture, and then the taxes and the animals. Aside from that there isn't much reason to get rich.
