Recommendation on Village location
I'm looking to start a new game and want to have it deep in the forest-any suggested locations?

Build location, curious?
Other than the fact that it is not flat, has anyone built their village North of Hornica, West of the lake, around the winding path? I may try it for the topographical challenge.

One thing I do when building a long distance from Gostovia is I turn off TAX. It take too long to walk all that way :)

I build up to 140 buildings in my village.....need the flat lands to build my villages

My village has little hamlets at each mine site ... I just wish the rocks on the mountains could be reduced to build bigger hamlets

I build my last village around the Memory tree (big flowering tree just South of Hornica)
My village is spread very wide and includes the mine, my farming and fishing are done along the lake East of Hornica.
I have a short run to Hornica and am still close to Gostavia.
To access any village I usually use the cart in Hornica but do a run every year around all the paths on the map, it is amazing how much goods you can collect.

Edit: I forgot to mention the little pond in the centre of my settlement with it's resident bear.

It is not easy to recommend a good spot because everyone has a different style of play. Close to resources or short traveling to other villages?

I built once in the forest at the top edge of the map between Baranica and the swamp. I have access to mine, clay and reed in the swamp but you are far from most villages, if you like to do those little quests it is a long run to visit them.

I like to build in the woods so I have a lot of trees in the village. Check out Rose's video if you need some inspiration. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2853507343

I also like to have my fields separated by trees if possible.

Deep in the forest? The lake in the middle-south of the map is pretty good for that, its far away from pretty much...everything lol. There's also a huuuge forest between Gostovia and Denica that's nice and flat. There's also a big birch forest on the other side of the river, its dense enough that it almost seems dark under the canopy sometimes

Its not exactly in a Forrest but there's a prime building spot south of Lesnica around the curve in the river with a lot of forrest around it. Assuming of course you can survive the wolves and bears in the forrest on your way to it .

Perhaps think of the whole map as your lands to build, rather than one location? It is after-all.

One or two houses to start at every nice location to work resources.

Storage buildings in many locations, perhaps near existing villages.

Unless you want to grind out a lifetime for; logs, sticks and stone, which you will always need, perhaps start training and leveling-up your people there first. While scouting for other good locations.

Happiness = production. Therefore, Insulated Stone homes with Wooden Tile Roof and light decorations are my priority.

Food and Firewood are mostly all they care about after that. So to sustain a large colony that is my priority of training.

At the moment I have 8 Resource Storage locations all across the map with at least two houses at each. Each somewhat close to existing villages. This has become very nice for buying, selling and stocking.

Orchards are nice but expensive.

Farming and other activities are just now on the radar.

Anyway. The 9th Level of HELL constantly grinding for Logs, Sticks and Stones was not the way for me. Never again. :)

Edit never mind only read the title.

I usually build in between Rolnica and Tuki just across from the island on the Rolnica side is a lot of flat ground good for building and farming.

Just birch trees on the land there so if your playing with the weight limits its easier to clear the land for your settlement since they only drop 2 logs each and a 3rd from removing the stump.

There is a clay deposit close buy to the north, the northern mine location is a short ride from the Tuki side of the river.

Rolnica has a herbalist, farm vendor and pigs and chickens for sale, Tuki has a hunter vendor with the next town over having the clothing vendor.

Short distance south of Rolnica is Lesnica with a smithy, raw materials, hunter vendors as well. Denica is a similar distance away and give you access to a cook, farm vendor and goats.

I made my current village to the right of Hornica.
And I do not regret it.
There is a lake for fishing, clay, trees, a mine and wolves nearby for hunting quests.
In Hornica, at the beginning of the game there are many merchants, and especially to buy quickly a crossbow, clothes and a horse (year 6) to be able to travel quickly everywhere.

I would concur with this being a good spot its where my current run is and you're able to build almost directly next to the town and there are good fishing spots near by as well

That's where my current town is too, its such a nice spot, although slightly cramped if you get too close to Hornica. And you have to travel a long way, and the usual road between hornica and gostovia always has a pack of wolves which are annoying lol
