No real trick; but you can try with a smaller building to move the blueprint over the area to see if that is easier to see from what point it goes from green to red.
It's most likely tree branches. Try rotating the building and see if you can wedge it in somehow. I've found that works on uneven ground sometimes too.
This is how I shoehorned a house into the woods with trees all around it: I cammed to each corner of the "redprint" and took a screenshot showing stuff in the landscape to help me find that corner again. Saved each shot on my desktop. Opened them in a photo viewer. Exited camera controls and photo view and resumed the game. I used the screenshots to help me find the exact spot where the corner of the "redprint" was and I dropped an item from my inventory on that precise point (drag the thing out of your inventory list will drop it). These items were my "pegs" to outlining where I needed to remove stumps. Done!
