question about feeding the villagers
Greetings, I am in my second year and my cook is no longer able to provide food for the villagers (until now I only give them roast meat
because I sell my vegetables), I have a lot of cabbage and carrots to make potage and stew for several days (and more because I have been enlarging my farms), so I would like to know if it is worth giving them those producers so as not to give them more meat hoe (They have been complaining to me because we continue eating like peasants :S). Stew costs more to make compared to beef stew. Any advice for this? Is there a difference between giving meat or stew to the villagers? thank you.

The difference is how much they need, they require 30 nutrition per day by default. So that would be 5 roasted meat or just the 1 potage, so depends how much of what your cook can produce

Then I'll try it. By the way, where is that reference for food?

I know of two places:
- Look at the item in inventory. You can only get the info on what you have.
- Look at the scheme. In Technology page, on the left pane, go to the last tab for production, then select Kitchen I or II, select a scheme to get more info.

I was referring to what the villagers eat, not the contribution of the article:
same thanks

You can see that in the main management screen:

The number in brackets is what all your villagers eat in 1 day. It's the total food value. So you just need to check the total food value of what your cooks can produce in one day and make sure it's more.

To help your cooks out, you can also order your hunters to spend some of their time drying or salting meat, and your fishermen to salt or dry some fish. That will bring in extra food if your cooks alone can't keep up.

Hello gamer, I just logged out so I can't remember the tab, to the right of "map" tab. There you can see taxis due, population, and .. how much food and water is needed per day! At first starting .. I would go with pottage .. then as time progresses, veggie soup to fill all needs. Happy Gaming :))

Salting meat/fish requires you to provide salt and increases the water intake so I don't bother with it. Drying is good because it really increases the shelf life so it's there in a pinch with decent nutrition when your cooks can't keep up. Also, your hunters hut and fishing shack produce so much meat that having them dry some is a minimal production loss - dried meat also sells for a lot (relatively) if you find yourself swimming in food and short on cash.

I've found doing mostly roasted meat and roasted fish with a few potages thrown in keeps everyone happy. It provides variety at a low cost (meat/cabbage/bowl). The meat/carrot dish has a lower nutrition than potage and takes just as long to produce in the kitchen so don't bother with it. Overproduce cabbage to last through seasons you don't harvest it, if you have food storage you will use them before they spoil and once cooked it goes back to 100% anyway.

I've never found a single cookhouse, even a kitchen II, can keep up with my village food needs if they are only making meals, even multiple struggle.

I have 42 children, 99 adults and myself in my village. I have the perk that reduces villagers food and drink requirements. I have two level 10 cooks that are able to feed them easily. They are assigned 39% of their time to make pottage and meat with gravy (for the villagers to eat), 4% to vegetable soup (for me to eat), 17% to mushroom soup (for villagers to drink, they also drink soured milk, milk and from waterskins). The cooks spend about 40% of their time making items that are sold.
So how well your cooks provide for your villager needs definitely depends upon their skill level and how many villagers you are supporting.

Well, I've never had a village that large or level 10 cooks so I've never had a single cookhouse capable of supporting my villages needs making only meals so my statement is not incorrect, it is also not incorrect in context of answering OPs question about a year 2 village. However, it's nice to know that eventually it's possible.

ha ha ha ha ha ha. I tried it and it worked, the stew and the stew give me enough for my villagers' food (I'm around 30 and it only works, but it works xd)

Well, if you have recruited more people then your workers can support, clearly the players fault, and not something that needs a "fix".

and we deviate from the main topic again xd

I feed mine only with Cabbage, Crafted meals and Bread is for sell only.

It would be nice to have a food bonus for having "food variety" to eat so not to have villagers only eating a ton of one item like Cabbage only lol
