Question about your villagers mechanics
Hey guys, I am new to this game and really struggling to figure out the villagers home needs.

In the beginning, they all required Food, Water, Firewood, Home to live in and a job.

I got everything set up and all my "red" indicators have gone away.

I then came back and insulated all the homes to prepare for winter and to have less fire wood consumption.

Now while I am away running errands and completing task, I assume everyone is happy.

I go to each house and find out some are out of water, some have no food, several have no firewood, etc but I have no red markers saying there is a problem.

Do the villagers take food and water from other locations as they need it?

I have fire wood in my warehouse and food and water in my food storage, I even have a guy operating the well to provide water.

I just don't understand if I need to keep resupplying their homes or not.

Thanks for any assistance.

A note on the red icon indicators: they won't show up if it's before 8 am, or whatever hour it is that they start work, and after 6 pm when they quit working. They only show up during work hours.

Put food and water in the food storage, and everything else (including firewood) in the resource storage. No need to resupply each home, the villagers will draw the resources from the storages.

For personal needs (food, drink, firewood), they'll first look in their house chest. If they find nothing there, they'll take it from the storage buildings (food storage for food and drink, resource storage for firewood).

For work needs (material & tools), they'll first look in the chest of the building they work at. If they don't find what they need there, they'll look in the storage buildings.
When they produce/gather something at work, they'll first put it in the storage buildings as well, and only when no room they'll put it in the chest of their work building.

That way by having the storage buildings, you can completely automate the entire village where you don't have to lift a finger yourself anymore.

Just for clarity, your villagers will never move items out of storage into their homes / workplaces. They will use anything they need directly from the storage buildings. So once they have used the supplies you put in their house chests, the chests will remain empty.

OK Thanks this makes more sense. I have been neglecting my missions because I felt they were about to run out of supplies.

I would spend a whole day chopping, farming and processing goods and then delivering it all to the homes one at a time.

Now that I know they will source the materials from the warehouse locations and food storage, I can go about my missions and not stress over this.

Thanks again.
