For work needs (material & tools), they'll first look in the chest of the building they work at. If they don't find what they need there, they'll look in the storage buildings.
When they produce/gather something at work, they'll first put it in the storage buildings as well, and only when no room they'll put it in the chest of their work building.
That way by having the storage buildings, you can completely automate the entire village where you don't have to lift a finger yourself anymore.
OK Thanks this makes more sense. I have been neglecting my missions because I felt they were about to run out of supplies.
I would spend a whole day chopping, farming and processing goods and then delivering it all to the homes one at a time.
Now that I know they will source the materials from the warehouse locations and food storage, I can go about my missions and not stress over this.
Thanks again.
