Making money
There are quite a few guides on how to Make Money Fast, but these are rather obsolete. Feathers won't make you a Scrooge McDuck anymore etc.

In Neoseeker they home in on straw hats having biggest money/time factor, but that ONLY applies if you have unlimited flax stalks to process. Unless you have a vast plantain of the stuff, money/hour is bit irrelevant versus money/available resources. Plus, carrying around all that crap before you have your pigsty .. yech.

Similarly, I doubt iron knives are really the biggest money makers for the same reason, if you have unlimited amounts of iron ore, sure, but that won't happen until after you've unlocked the entire production tech tree. At that point you you have money printing technologies available anyways.

Breeding animals is apparently a real, ahem, cash cow, but again, that's endgame solution.

So, what do people do to generate cash mid-game with farm-sized settlement? Stew seems attractive since you can make your hunters gather meat automagically and it's much more efficient on produce than e.g. beet soup (Seljanka presumably). On the other hand, it's easy to sell too much and Famine comes to say "hi".

You can make penny-ante stuff like converting sticks to spoons, but those are low value items. I suppose as good use for spare workforce if there's nothing else as it's fairly closed loop activity.

In early-mid game: I buy soured milk, cook Quark myself in kitchen and sell the Quarks.

I like copper and then bronze hammers. (or knives, they take the same amount of resources and sell for the same amount). But that's only if you like physical mining. I do ... but I know not everyone does. I also sell the excess salt, that's not a bad little money bonus. But if you hit two or three of the caves in a season, convert all to copper / bronze (hint ... don't convert the copper and tin to bronze until you can craft bronze tools ... don't be an idiot like I was the first time. LOL) then make your hammers (or knives) and sell them, you'll have 4 or 5k at the end of your first season.

Other people have said wooden vials give a good return, especially if you have two lumberjacks producing logs. Or have bought or found and iron axe and want to go chop down a mountain yourself.

I didn't have an objection to carrying poop and stole an iron hoe from Gostovia ... and planted as many flax seeds as I could the first year. Then saved as many seeds as I needed for a full field next year and sold the excess. Flax seeds make hecka money. Cabbage seeds also sell well ... turn your cabbages into potage ... eat what you need and sell the rest. They have a good cost ratio to them. I like potage because you can get two crops of cabbage each year. You only get one of the others.

You can also just boil your excess meat and sell it. I tend to do that when I have a bunch that is about to go bad ... when you cook it, it magically becomes full value again.

Just starting out, Morel Mushrooms ... 1 gold each to start, more as you level up your bargaining. You won't get rich doing it, but it can give you enough to get started at least.

As far as I'm concerned, flax is still an excellent choice once you have a few farmers. Keep enough seed to replant, sell the rest; hang onto the flax stalks until you have workers to spin it for you, then have them spin and weave it to level their skills, then sell any excess.
Like Philtre I'm for flax (flax, flax, and more flax).

Oh, and Iron hammers.

Run a few roads/find wrecked carts, kill a few bandits, and money isn't a problem for me anymore. But I also don't buy useless tech I don't need, and I have my workshop workers making baskets with my surplus sticks, and my seamstress making simple and fur shoes, then sell them on my way to the mine every season. Getting rich is almost inevitable once you get past a certain point in the game. No need to rush it.

Pretty sure they meant roasted meat. There's no option to boil meat, unless you count having it in soups.

Everything that wasn't tied down got sold, bought every recipe, built fields, put folks to work, let the goats comingle for quark and bulked up on fur and leather for the two boots. Didn't take much time at all. Took the money and bought extra wool and linen thread and put folks to work. I mined a lot till got to iron then put them to work.

At first I made stone knives sooooo many stone knives. It's only stones and sticks so resource isn't a problem. Now I sell St Johns Wort in clay vases. I have 2 miners nearly 100% getting clay and the herbalist gathering the flowers and a villager making the vase with flowers. Simultaneously I have 2 hunters making meat and leather and fur. This may not be the best way to make money but it's what I'm doing.

Can't wait till I unlock iron. I feel like it's going to be a game changer.

There are no reasons for money? How do you plan on paying taxes?

Very small amount needed for that, and you will get money in over flow just a few years in.
Personally, I prefer seeds, feathers or arrows: they're light and I can carry a lot more.

At the start of the game, sellers don't have enough money to buy everything I can produce, so there's no point in overproducing. Later, when the shops are unlocked, it's just a constant flow of money.

If you have a problem with tax money, it's probably because you're building your village too fast.
