Depending on how much you have already, if number of digits in the value of what you currently have is enough to add to it 8000 without changing the number of digits in that number, simply edit the save in a hex editor, otherwise drop/put in storage some part of the money, save, edit the save to increase both of the values so the sum is 1 order of magnitude higher and if needed repeat until the sum is at least 1000, so you can change/add to it the missing 8000. The separate inventory or dropped items entries are coded as text, so it's quite easy to find itt in the save file.
Anyway, there is no simple way to give yourself 8000 coins unless using a hex editor on the savegame. If you can find one that still works on the new savegames that is.
Which is not recommended cause it can cause all sort of issues for your save, some are not instantly noticeable but only much later on when a new patch comes out.
So if you ever have weird issues, and have used an editor on your savegame, make sure to mention it so the devs/bughunters know in what direction to look.
but 8000 coins is nothing.
3 best ways to earn money :
early game : pickup stones & sticks, craft those into stone knifes and sell then to vendors 20 to 32 coins each.
midgame : have villagers gather logs and craft them yourself into 1 log = 2 planks and than each plank into 10 wooden vials sell those to vendors.
-
20 wooden vials sell 30 to 48 coins.
late game :
have 2 hunting huts, each with 4 hunters gathering feathers, have 3 marketstalls each with 1 vendor selling feathers
If need be you can turn wood/food/water consumption for your villagers and yourself off, give yourself unlimited carry capacity, turn taxes to 0%
and give yourself the ability to craft a whole stack as fast as 1 item.
-
if need be set season lenght also to 30 days.. each ingame day takes about 30 min .. hire those villagers as lumberjacks and go to sleep.. wake up with tons of logs/coins.
that will help you recoup your loss a bit faster perhaps and get you going again.
8000 coins is not 'nothing'. I have not played the game for that long and represents all I have. Thank you for the tips for money making though. :)
When I originally posted this problem I didn't realise the game made me do that so even though it didn't 'steal' my money it did make me throw it which is a bug in my eyes.
