Horse Whistle
Does anyone know what dictates how fast your horse comes to you when you whistle? I've tried to figure this out but haven't. Maybe it's random chance whether they walk or run to you? I can't see why that would be though.

As far as I can tell, it's not encumbrance. nor is it what speed he was moving at when you dismounted.

In my case they Tp to you around 15-20m every time you whistle and slowly walk to you

I get either a walk or a run, about an even split - 50/50. I just can't figure out why. Nothing is consistent.

For me they are almost always slow. Very VERY rarely my beloved donkey is actually running the old speed towards me. But 98% of the times he walks towards me as if he has been beaten or as if he's severely overloaded. I'm ashamed of summoning him in a village, since he makes me look so bad.. Need to keep that dynasty reputation up! :-)

So you don't know why they vary in speed? That makes me think it's a (minor) bug.

Horses and donkey are slowed by terrain I think, They move faster on flat terrain for sure. When it comes to the whistle, I think it still come to the terrain.

They don't have the same function as Waggoners, which is fast travel. AI Takes a route straight north, but a bunch of trees can make them walking getting nowhere, this is where you have to adjust slightly, you move a bit and they will come.

Not in my experience. I'm typically standing on a road when I summon my mount, and half the time he runs to me while the other half he walks.

From what I understood - but haven't seen it 100% sure confirmed - they were slowed down on purpose to avoid people being catapulted in the air by their mount. I assume it's a minor glitch where in some cases the slowing down doesn't trigger and they still have their old speed.
But that's just my assumption.

Ah, okay. So, presumably, they intended for them to always walk to you. That answers my question then, and I can stop looking for a way to make them run all the time. lol
