-this is personal and will not change during their lifetime.
what they come with when you first invited them / when they were born.
each profession also has pieces of clothing related to them (lets call that the work uniform for that job).. if they are currently working in that profession (and it is between 8 and 18.. so working hours) than they will wear that work "uniform" instead.. replacing part of or all of their default set.

there is a difference in this working set for males and females.
I too hope we one day can produce sets of clothing for our villagers, including painting dresses and tunics with nice colours like those I see some villagers wear in blue red or green... yet we are unable to make.
**preferably together with villagers wearing down their clothes overtime.

if it were me I would add this today.
Thank goodness it isn't then. I don't want to spend funds buying clothes (which creation comes mid game) for the first few villagers. If they make clothes 'wear out' as quick as stone knifes and other tools. I'll never get anywhere. I'm ok with making them later (as an option) but not them wearing out.. In the 'old' days they had a saying, at least they did in this country :- 'Mend and make do'
Sorry I don't want to see naked villagers or villages in undergarments demanding new clothes every few seasons.
Why don't you work out how much Flax you would need.. How many sheep producing wool and how many tailors you would need to produce clothes and linen/wool cloth for a city of say 150 people .....
