My wife's clothing
I see villagers wearing different clothes in different seasons (winter clothes in winter for example) but my wife always has the same clothing on all year (no winter clothes in winter).

Does she habe a job? A lot of clothing changes are related to jobs.

My wife has had the same dress for over 30 years... Not sure if it's because I am mean with my millions or I bought her super quality....

each villager comes with one set of clothing they will wear when idling/not at work.
-this is personal and will not change during their lifetime.
what they come with when you first invited them / when they were born.

each profession also has pieces of clothing related to them (lets call that the work uniform for that job).. if they are currently working in that profession (and it is between 8 and 18.. so working hours) than they will wear that work "uniform" instead.. replacing part of or all of their default set.
->
there is a difference in this working set for males and females.

I too hope we one day can produce sets of clothing for our villagers, including painting dresses and tunics with nice colours like those I see some villagers wear in blue red or green... yet we are unable to make.
**preferably together with villagers wearing down their clothes overtime.
->
if it were me I would add this today.

Thank goodness it isn't then. I don't want to spend funds buying clothes (which creation comes mid game) for the first few villagers. If they make clothes 'wear out' as quick as stone knifes and other tools. I'll never get anywhere. I'm ok with making them later (as an option) but not them wearing out.. In the 'old' days they had a saying, at least they did in this country :- 'Mend and make do'

Sorry I don't want to see naked villagers or villages in undergarments demanding new clothes every few seasons.

Why don't you work out how much Flax you would need.. How many sheep producing wool and how many tailors you would need to produce clothes and linen/wool cloth for a city of say 150 people .....

I favor the cloths wearing out and needing to be replaced, but with the addition that it happens slowly, like the repairs on the buildings, so that you don't have to worry about it for the first few years. After the first few years, I am rolling in money so purchasing clothes for the villagers or making them myself would not be a problem. I would like there to be some purpose to the sewing hut beyond just making stuff for sale in the market stalls. An added bonus would be being able to color the clothes!!!

Oh and having to employ farmers, sewers and sheep tenders would give some of those 150 villagers jobs to do
