Builder
Absolutely useless having a builder, nothing gets repaired-might as well do it myself!

Once you've assigned a worker, click on the building repair tab, there appears a list of damaged buildings, select the building and press F for the worker to repair it.

Note that the resources for the repair must be in the resource building.

And you don't have to have a builder all the time. Check the buildings status after every season change. If there is any damage building, borrow a worker from some where and put the worker in the builder hut.

It seems to me that the builder repairing damaged buildings should be one job that happens automatically without the player needing to manage the repairs. As long as the tools and supplies are available the builder should start work when the day begins and stop when the day ends. If more than one building needs repaired the builder will start with the closest then go on to the next.

JMHO
Damaged buildings should also have a greater negative effect due to their exposure to the environment. Food supplies would rot faster, workshops and sheds would reduce productivity, resource storage items would lose their durability...

The builders hut repairs the buildings you tell it to repair very quickly. Usually before the first day is over all the buildings that I told it to repair are finished. As I put in the other post you made about the builder's hut - you need to open the builders hut in the management menu - select each building that needs repair and confirm that you want the repair to be done.

But you shouldn't have to confirm the repair of a damaged building. It should work the same as farming except once you have a building built the builder shouldn't need to be told to get off his duff and do the repairs.

I shared your view until one season I got halfway down the list of buildings (About 13) and couldn’t tell it to repair any more. I was keeping about 30-50 excess planks only (deliberately) and that season most of the buildings needing repair wanted 6 or 12 planks - so I had run out of planks.
That changed my mind about auto-repair without instruction. If it had been auto-repair then randomly during the day I would have run out of planks affecting other production chains. Getting this heads up before the day started allowed me to adjust production targets to meet the need.
Now if the builder was reworked so you could see the demand per season on a final page and they took it throughout the season rather than upon start of repair then auto-repair unless you block it would become my preference again.

There's another benefit about the building hut not auto-repairing everything. Some people build half-built houses as a decoration, like e.g. just the walls without the interior. Some people like having a half-built house in the village for immersion. You could not do this if your builder finishes every building by himself without your interaction. Many times when players want mechanics to be faster or easier, they are more complicated because they offers choices.

Unfinished buildings don't appear on the list, but I sometimes keep an isolated, dilapidated house as abandoned, just for the looks of it.

Perhaps a check box next to the building to be automatically repaired would be a good idea.
