Alternatively; I think getting the skull or not is decided when you skin the animal, not when you kill it. So you could save after killing a wisent but before skinning it. And then reload and try again if you don't get the skull.
However, incorporating an increased chance of gathering a skull into the skills that increase the yields from harvesting from dead animals would be useful. If that is not already part of the code for that aspect of skinning.
I tried the crossbow out first, part of the reason I only had half health, I was hoping a headshot would deal with it, didn't work out that way, ended up in a life or death battle with the first wisent with my iron axe. Second one I kited with the bow.
It was worth it getting the master fisherman for the village though. Just need the extraction and farming special villager now.
