Putting items on a shelf

I built shelves on the walls of my house and have many figurines but I'm not sure how to place the items on the shelf (I am on a pc)

drop the item on the ground, and when you target it, the prompt should tell you to hold the pickup button to "grab" the item. once you've grabbed it, you can turn it around, and then place the item where you like.

Also important, this works only for one single item. If you drop a whole stack of them, you don't get the 'grab' option to move it around.

(Btw, if you have many items in place already and want to add a new one near them, i recommend saving first. It's very annoying if you accidently knock over your perfectly placed stuff when trying to put the new one in between. It's a bit finicky :-))

Thank's for the tips, it takes time to get used to putting items on the shelves so saving the game after placing each item is good advice. By the way, amazing garden Morri.

I watched the video...tried for ages.. but potions do not lower to the correct level on a shelf. They hover a couple of centimetres above the shelf and usually fall over. Bottles and clay figures seems to work fine.

Any idea if potions are supposed to be "shelvable" or not?

I give up placing them because after reloading the game, they fall off again.

What I do is place them on a plate or on a bag to make it look better.
