Wood + Daub vs Stone Houses
Which is better in terms of happiness and firewood consumption?

Wood + daub actually takes more effort to build, over just building a stone building. But a stone building seems to be the 'better' one.

In game it says the stone provides the highest heat retention, but this doesn't take into account adding daub.

Don't know, if wood+daub is better than just stone.
But stone+limestone is the best for sure.

You can add limestone to a stone building. Stone is best for firewood consumption but I'm not sure on the exact difference between log + daub and stone.

Limestone is the top for happiness and insulation. As for regular stone vs daub I *think* stone is still better but not 100% sure.

Limestone is better for MY happiness <.< Daubing is more satisfying though.

I think basic stone is better or on par with insulated wood.

Wooden roof and stone walls insulated with lime works best saves in repairs to the that thistle roof every year.

a house with wattle walls, mud plaster and thatched roof has an insulation of 57.1%, with wooden walls, mud plaster and wooden roof it is 78.3% and with stone walls, limestone and wooden tile roof it is 100%
All other possible construction constellations naturally have other values

Daher baue ich von Anfang an immer direkt aus Stein und baue frühzeitig selbst Kalk ab.

I don't get the insulation v wood. I have one house wicker/daub says Insulation: 57.1%/ Wood: 13.93, the stone/lime house says: Insulation: 87.7%, Wood: 15. I would of thought the stone/lime house would use less wood? Or is there other factors on wood usage, maybe like how many people live in it? or something else?

are they the same sized houses? larger houses take more wood to heat. this is in addition to the fact that the more people in a house, the more wood used.

so a single occupant daub + wattle small simple house might use less firewood than a 4 occupant "house" made of stone and limestone. area for area and person to person, stone + limestone is the best.

House type have slightly different numbers, insulation also depends on the roof type.

a fully insolated house saves maximum on wood use.

so a house with all walls wattle&dorb + daub
all walls wood + daub
or all walls stone + limestone
-all give the SAME reduction on wood use.
(ofcourse insolating only some but not all of the walls does do that less)
(so the type of wall does not have an effect on wood use)

however wood walls do give more bonus to mood than wattle&dorb
and stone walls more bonus to mood than wood.

the happyness bonus of insolation is about the same as one of these steps.
so an insolated wattle & dorb wall gives about the same happyness as a barren wooden wall
and an insolated wooden wall gives about the same happyness as a barren stone wall.

to get the full 50% mood bonus from a house, you will need stone and insolated houses
to get the full 50% reduction in firewood use, you just need to apply insolation to all walls.
